Very exciting! I can tell Mark Gatiss is fighting down his giddiness at recreating that classic scene from The Dalek Invasion of Earth. :D

That's very cool. I still wonder how much time this will cover in terms of the show's creation.

That Dalek Invasion of Earth footage could be from a montage at the end, or something else.

Gatiss has talked about the script before; apparently he wrote it something like a decade ago. From what I understand...

...it begins with the filming of the Doctor's rejuvenation scene in "The Tenth Planet" and then goes back to Sydney Newman in 1962-ish. It covers about four years, then.

That's interesting. I wonder if they'll touch on the missing episodes, or the christmas episode.

I guess Hartnell's health will be discussed as well.

Well, if it covers 62 to 66, then The Feast of Steven might get a mention, but there are no missing episodes till after the end of the story.
They all existed until 1967 (apart, probably, from the original unused version of The Dead Planet, and the material discarded when Planet of Giants 3&4 were edited into one episode). Masterplan 5 went in 1967,l in the the first batch of videotape wipings, but all other episodes had been transferred to film before wiping, and the film copies existed until sometime between 1972 and 1977.

I meant as part of an epilogue. It's a tedious fact to try and shoehorn into an anniversary story. :)

    Wow.

The same's not happening with the 3d special but I hope Moffat's planned it well over the years.

Wow. Let's just ditch series 8 and redo Hartnell's first season!

We can see new interpretations of lost episodes and old episodes redone!

I suspect we'll get a montage a scenes from episodes. Daleks of course, Maybe a funny scene of someone in a giant moth costume wandering past the camera or hanging from the ceiling. I imagine though that the story will focus a lot on the drama of Hartnell's determination to carry on despite his health problems.

I wonder if the other companions from his era will make an appearance?

This looks friggin' fantastic. I love these kinds of things. Just saw "Hitchcock" last night which dramatized (sort of) the making of Psycho.

This looks like it's in the same vein. Can't wait.

I have to say, the girl looks spot on like Ford, great casting.

David Bradley looks spot on as William Hartnell, while Jemma Powell and Claudia Grant look very similar to Jacqueline Hill and Carole Ann Ford, respectfully. Jamie Glover looks a bit off but I'm sure he'll look better in action.

So far the only confirmed appearances are Sophie Holt as Jackie Lane and Reece Shearsmith as Patrick Troughton, but I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see small appearances for the other companion actors.

There was a report a few months ago on GallifreyBase that Anneke Wills, Jean Marsh and Peter Purves have cameos alongside William Russell and Carole Ann Ford. Who knows if that's true or not, or whether Jackie Lane or Maureen O'Brien will have cameos as well. Waris Hussein (director of An Unearthly Child and Marco Polo) was on the set during some of the filming (and the first read through), but I haven't heard anything about him filming a cameo.

    The pics look fab.

I wonder whether it will shy away from the less salubrious aspects of Hartnell’s character?
