If I were the borg I'd have a cybernetic lung system with bottled oxygen at the ready for those such cases.

Considering that we see the Borg out on the hull without spacesuits building the interplexing beacon, I'd guess that oxygen is irrelevant.

Lots of other choices. There's no sign the Borg beamed over with any technology, for example.

"Quickly Mr. Data - evacuate air on any deck with Borg lifesigns!"

Which brings me to... the personal shield thing. "Captain, they've adapted". Sure, but it must take energy to fend off the beam... why not keep on firing? Use two guns? Use four? Eventually someone's power source will run out.
