First Contact Day, April 5th 2023

It is a bit strange that they didn't hold back the Starfleet Academy announcement for today.
Probably was going to be the plan, but then they learned the news was going to leak anyway and decided to get ahead of it. Usually the way of things

Anyway, now that today is the day let's commence the celebrations.

Would be nice to get a trailer or something for SNW or Disco but it seems quite low-key this year.

Something as simple of Releasing the next episode of Picard early would make me happy. Apple Releases Ted Lasso at 6 PM PDT for me. Amazon releases new releases really early before the actual release time. It would be nice to see the new episode of Picard early and not at 11:00 tonight. Besides, their end credits now is the First Contact theme.

Happy? We're celebrating the day of the horrific Synth uprising and attack on Mars?

You should all be ashamed of yourselves:p
This can be undone by preventing the destruction of the Romulan Sun, the Hobus stars destruction being an obvious flashpoint in the Temporal Cold War which led to the dystopian late 24th century as depicted in Picard seasons 1 and 2; including the synth attack on Mars.

Let’s take First Contact Day back.

I thought the MU formed in a pocket AU where Rome never fell.
Well, you see my dear chap, the notion that Rome ever truly fell in *any* universe whether expanded, splintered or not is a bit of a misnomer. While it's true that the once great empire experienced some significant setbacks and declines over time it’s legacy and impact have endured throughout history to this very day, and will surely continue to resonate in to the far future of the Romulan Star Empire. Jolan tru!

Indeed. I wasn't a mod here, but I did it for 8 years on other sites. It's a strange feeling, being back to rank and file.

Yes it does feel strange, 20 years as a mod here, I was institutionalised… it doesn’t make that much of a difference though, it is still the same place with the same people and that is what counts.
