Firefox 3 - Shiny...

This is an important portion to point out for everyone to read. Uninstalling a Firefox installation then reinstalling won't fix anything in most cases, because the new installation is going to use the exact same profile as the old installation. One would also need to delete the profile after uninstalling Firefox in order to have any result after reinstalling. This may not apply, of course, if it's a specific extension or several extensions causing the issue.

I really enjoy FF3 - easy to install, preserves personal settings (something that earlier beta versions seemed to have issues with, much to my ire) and seems to be a little faster than FF2.

HOWEVER! I still find the occasional glitch to really put me off and I'm hoping that some more learned FF masters here may have a clue as to what's going on:

• I occasionally get locked in "zoom" mode, where the mouse wheel will no longer scroll and is constantly zooming. Clicking on other things doesn't help; in fact, clicking on things seem to make these odd little blue bounding-boxes to appear in table cells. Behavior becomes totally wonky and a restart is required. And no, I'm not holding down the "Control" key when this is going on. This happened occasionally in FF2 but the problem seems to have gotten worse in FF3.
• Sometimes, when typing in a TEXTAREA field - like the one I'm typing in now - when I put my cursor to the end of the last line and start typing, I occasionally notice that the characters I begin to type appear on the next line, as if I did a CR/LF, but I didn't.
• I notice that in FF3, it can't handle contractions easily in its spell-checker. I see red dotted lines under words like "wouldn't" and "shouldn't". Very odd.
• Very rarely (used to happen a LOT in early versions of FF2), I would be typing something in a TEXTAREA and FF would think that I asked to do a text search on the page and my cursor would head to the bottom and open up a search field above the status bar. Certain non-alphanumeric characters could no longer be typed, such as single and double quotes and shift-characters on the numeric keys. I do have "Search for text when I start typing" turned off in the advanced preferences - it cut down on the frequency of the problem but not entirely. As I said, it's nowhere near as problematic as early FF2 flavors, but no less irritating when it happens, requiring a restart, as it gets irretrievably locked in that "mode", like the mouse wheel zoom problem.
• Rarely, copy and paste simply doesn't work, particularly between FF and other apps.

Hopefully someone can shed some light on these things for me.

I've certainly notice the spell check and copy/paste issue you mention.

And it still seems to be a bigger memory hog than was version 2.

I'm on 3.0.1 now.
