Fire Fly?

How is it and is it worth my time

Presumably you have seen an episode or two of a Star Trek series, no? :vulcan: Now anyone can pull 14 episodes off of any of them and say the franchise sucks but only by watching on your own can you come to another conclusion. I loved Firefly, but then I tend to watch anything with a good budget and spaceships. Your mileage may vary.

I love StarTrek DS9 was the best IMO, Loved Battle Star, Star Gate is ok but I hated Babylon 5 with a Passion.

How would someone like this do with Fire Fly?
Like BSG it's a motley crew, but in this case they're more "loveable rogues" than "utter asshats". I think that a lot of BSG's effects people cut their teeth on Firefly, too.

Baby Lon 5, however, is three words.
Yeah, but DoctorWho is one - just like RobinHood.

Don't forget Ironman (which I see more often than I would like).

Yes, watch Firefly, it is definetly worth your time. It's only 14 episodes and a movie so it's not like it's a huge time taker. The original pilot episode, is 2 hours long, and the only episode I'm not the biggest fan of but you have to watch it or else very little will make sense.

I know I watched it when it first ran but since I was graduating from college, I didn't really notice it was gone (life gets in the way sometimes) but I recently re-watched it a few weeks ago and feel in love with it. It is one of my favorite shows of all time and a fine example of a show that shouldn't have been cancelled when it was. Funny and quirky light on the sci-fi element but if you appreciate interesting characters, I'd say check it out.

Babylon 5's first season is rough, but I believe they did a scientific study that conclusively showed that people who didn't appreciate the show's quality after that point were brain damaged.

Really like the characters, really like the one liners.

Hate the basic science got wrong (multiple planets arouind one star? How big istheir Goldilocks Zone? Seriously?) Don't much like the Reapers reveals in the movie.

Summer GLau's fight scene in that movie is very cool, all the more because the bulk of it is left to our imagination.

And the little homages in Castle (Halloween costume, speaking Chinese) are hilarious.

As others have said, YMMV.

The "planets" are not naturally habitable. They say that right out in the intro where it's impossible to miss.......

All these planets and moons need to be in a certain distance to the star though. Otherwise it's way too cold or too hot. And they need a certain level of gravity, otherwise they wouldn't be able to hold an atmosphere.

In our own solar system we probably have only three potentially habitable planets, even with Terraforming (Venus, Earth, Mars). Our Moon's gravity is too weak, Mercury is too close to the Sun, and the moons of Jupiter too far away from the Sun.

Hence those maps which show that Firefly was set in a whole star cluster rather than a single star system.

Love it. Watched several times since I brought the DVDs a few years ago.

And on the topic of Babylon 5, I wasn't a fan when it was on TV, but several times have borrowed the DVDs from my local library.

Is this by the same guy who did Buf Fy, An Gel, and Doll House? Oh and he did the movie, Seren Ity I think
