In Jan. someone on another board posted an interview link http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/12/29/would-you-pay-40000-for-an-antique-typewriter/ where Harlan Ellison in his fourth answer states it will be hard even for him to find a good doctor. I have been looking since 2006 for a gp and don't have insurance. I did find someone early on, but they retired due to illness. I could tell you so-called horror stories of how I've been treated during my search and during my life generally, so I won't go to just anyone though I sometimes do that, too, when I am desperate for care; bad idea. I live in Orlando, and somebody estimated there's been a shortage of gp's in Florida the last fifteen years.
_ _ _ _The bright notion occurred to me of getting a referral from organizations with which I feel comfortable, so I reached these:
Physicians for Social Responsibility
" for Human Rights
" for a National Health Program
Christian Medical and Dental Societies
One of the latter's members treated me years ago, but then he moved. I'm still working on that avenue, but if you have any others or any other groups I should contact please advise. I've attempted more usual methods, and now I'm acutely ill.
