A.V. Club reports that the final season of Game of Thrones may not come out until 2019 because of the long filming schedule due to the longer episodes.

Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos, told TV Guide the other day that season eight’s episodes will all have longer runtimes. He’s surmised this because “we’re filming right up until the summer. When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”
Considering the longer episodes, I'm not surprised.

But the new question is what will we get first: The final season of Game of Thrones or The Winds of Winter finally?

I read another article that said that since most of the main characters are now going to be in the same location they cannot use the multiple filming crews that they used before to speed up the production, so that also makes it longer to make the episodes.
