FINAL POLL - January Challenge: We Are the Borg!

Ptrope

Agitator
Admiral
We are the Borg. All your distinctiveness are belong to us.

okay, maybe that's not likely to come from their mouths, but the sentiment is true, regardless of the syntax. Klaus must have been assimilated when he challenged the board to depict any and all things Borg, and from the entries we received, it appears we may already have the beginnings of a shared consciousness!

Explore your neural pathways and select an artist for the Collective. Resistance is futile! :borg:

Admiral2

B.J.

Klaus

K-Star

Ptrope

Redfern

Starscape

I selected the Admiral as well. I enjoy origin stories, and I appreciate the tragic irony depicted here, trying to save a girl's life, the tools run upon her saviors.

Sincerely,

Bill

Admiral2 and BJ get my votes this month. Assimilated Tribbles? Now that really is a crime against nature!

I check out for the weekend and the poll is already over! Oh well, I would've voted for Redfern anyway! :D

So the polls are locked? It's finished?

If so, I really don't think I should be listed as the winner. As I understand it, B.J. submitted his entry to Ptrope a day earlier than I did. Plus mine was just a casual doodle I did in less than 10 minutes probably a decade ago. There was no effort involved.

I propose Admiral2 should be the winner.

Sincerely,

Bill

So much humility! :)

Time spent, and time submitted, aren't really a good basis of judgment (believe me, I know - I've spent hours on things that were total junk! :D). The fact that B.J. didn't show any work in progress or discuss his entry, either, means that you have just as much right to use the concept as he - as in fact, anyone does. You both came to a similar, but certainly not identical, answer to the challenge, and both are equally valid. You don't 'deserve' a win any less than anyone else.

Of course, ultimately, it is up to the winner whether he or she wishes to accept the win and propose the new challenge. I'd suggest that you P.M. Admiral2 and get his input - we'll stand by whatever decision the two of you reach, as it was a very close contest between the two of you, along with a commanding lead over the rest of the field (please, both of you, P.M. me with your decision by midnight tonight).

On a personal note, I voted for Starscape and Klaus, but I liked them all, and want to welcome K-Star to the challenge. A big part of these challenges is getting people engaged and getting them to participate, so every new entry is a win, IMO. Kudos!

I've got to agree, if the entry was done as long ago as a decade, it definitely wasn't completed within the time frame of the contest and shouldn't have been an accepted entry in the first place.

Ahhh, I missed the phrase "probably a decade ago." We do try to emphasize that entries should be created in response to the challenge, rather than the entrants finding previously-created art or designs that happen to fit the criteria of the challenge.

On that basis, I think it is only fair that Admiral2 be declared the winner of the challenge, easily supported by the fact that he was within a hair's breadth of that position anyway by votes of the members, and far ahead of the next-best finishers.

Congratulations, Admiral2! Well done, and clearly you struck a strong chord with your fellows. We all hope you are up to the task of challenging us in February to the contest of your choice; keep in mind, everyone, that this is a short month, so we look forward to the new challenge within the next day or two, leaving a little more than three weeks to rise to it and present our responses.

Thank you, and thanks to everyone who voted for me! I'll try not to keep you waiting long for the February challenge.

Darn!! I actually had a picture of a Borg I did a while back, that I would like to have entered. Not that it would have mattered if I had discovered this thread sooner, I couldn't post pictures until yesterday. Anyway, that's some pretty decent artwork up there.
