Star Trek - in SuperAndorianation!

What if Star Trek had a different puppetmaster? What if the father of Captain Scarlet were the father of Captain Kirk? Could the man who waged war on alien invaders welcome them with open arms?

The challenge for February was to imagine that Gerry Anderson, not Gene Roddenberry, had created Star Trek, with the same general premise - how would it have looked different? Would Derek Meddings have created his super-realistic effects? Would Sylvia have designed the uniforms? Would it have been done with puppets??

Sure, there were some strings attached, but we got some great doppelgangers. Cast your votes now and party like it's 1999!

^^ Ditto! I'd like to see that detailed up after the challenge is over, and really given the full-on Derek Meddings treatment :bolian:

I've got to agree Ptrope's nailed the Gerry Anderson look with those uniforms and the purple wigs (of course). It's got my vote.

I like the animation on Klaus's - it's difficult to think of anything that's motion-less in an Anderson production. :)

And a nice take on the Zero-X, Kaiser. ::techman:

I doubt I could get it up to Meddings' standard, but I might have a go at finishing the model off sometime...

Purple hair nails it in my book. (Thanks to my love of UFO's purple haired women... well, let's just say that the character "Hit Girl" makes me feel more than a little pervy.)

Another vote for Ptrope.

Ditto. Gotta did 70's chicks with purple hair. :)

I would say, though, that I thought the "no photoshop" restriction a bit unfair.

Thanks for the votes, everyone! Honestly, I didn't want to win this one, but that's a risk you take - I apologize to anyone who thought my restriction on Photoshopping was too limiting, but I was hoping to challenge people creatively, and I like to think that our entries proved it worked. Thanks to Kaiser, Klaus and Starscape, who rose to the occasion, and I hope that March will bring even more members out to play :techman:.

Congrats Ptrope! Mini-skirts and short purple hair won the day for me as well.

On the photoshop restriction...It was interesting, and it did make it more challenging. I think Phototshop does make things easier, especially if you have a busy schedule. And over the years, I've noticed that contest's that feature book covers, posters, etc, tend to have a higher entry rate. Fortunately for me, I love those things...and while I always seem to get my idea late, I do usually feel like I can compete.

You know, everyone is joking about the purple hair...which I love...LOL, but, truth be told, those are actually very cool uniform designs Ptrope envisioned. Captured the flavor of both series extremely well. Great work!
