Keep in mind that these settings are for 720p, NOT 1080p.

I think there's been some confusing because on the Japanese page, the settings are much lower. Either these are way exaggerated to make it look more impressive than it is, or the PS3 version is going to look and run horribly.

You are probably right, however this came straight from the NA site. Probably the Japanese site listed the minimum requirements, which are much lower than recommended, while SE NA has their foot up their ass in trying to determine a minimum requirement. Either way though, expect no word until the game releases.

I do remember reading something that the PS3 version isn't coming along too smoothly. Ill try and track it down

I looked into XIV a while back. Can't say it appeared particularly interesting relative to The Old Republic or Guild Wars 2. Of course both of those could be horrible flops - The Old Republic in particular is looking less and less impressive as time goes by - but they at least got me interested in the first place.

The Japanese specs. Quite a step down anyway and much more reasonable.

I've read the same thing myself, although I didn't take it with a grain of salt since it came from a message board with no source.

Like I said before, the specs in the OP are the recommended specifications. They will probably dumb it down to minimum requirements like the Jap site.

I was about to say, requiring an Intel Core i7 would eliminate the vast majority of PC users. Aren't most folks still on a Core 2 Duo/Quad at this point?

Like I said several times over, at this point it is just recommended specs. I'm sure that minimum requirements will come out sooner or later. It is not as bad as it sounds, really.

I'm currently twiddling my thumbs waiting on Civilization V and Fate of the World, and my interest in MMOs is running hot off the back of Guild Wars 2's fantastic showing at Gamescom, so I may just check it out.
