*screams* I'm at the boss fight with Cid in Chapter 10. He's killed me five times now. Why? Because he hits Lightning with his insta-kill attack and not one of the other two characters. The walkthrough said to use Hope and Fang... got killed. So then I put in my personal favs Hope and Sahz... got killed. What the hell are you supposed to be doing here? Should I have a double heal paradigm or something? Because that would mean I'd have to manually heal and I can never do that right b/c I have to quickly select which person to heal and see which one is lowest health and then I'm dead by then.

But the guy is killing me with one hit. On the walkthrough it says "keep your health high because one hit from him will take half your health" but it takes ALL of my health and he always does it to Lightning not to anyone else!

^ Use a couple of synergists right away to cast bravery, faith, haste... That should help. You might also wanna change your accessories to something that improves your health.

I have leveled up Gold Bangles on all three, and I did have them buffed up like that, but I think the buffs wore off at that point and when he was guarding they were too busy healing to have time to buff before the next attack.

You need to switch between the paradigms. When you see the big attack coming, immediately switch to Sentinel and healers. Take the time to have a Sentinel paradigm with synergists/saboteurs as well to apply buffs/debuffs.

It's weird because I've played the game so much with all the roles unlocked, but so I can't really remember what the old characters are stuck as, but between Lightning, Fang and Hope, you should have all your roles covered.

Okay I got past it and I'm finally at Chapter 11. I still can't believe it takes 10 out of 13 missions to get to the pretty open world with its natural beauty. WTF.

Oh, I've been tired of this game since about an hour in ;) I'm actually deeply disappointed in almost every aspect of this game. I had so much fun playing 12 and I'd been looking forward to this game for years. I was playing 10 right before this (first time) and I definitely had a lot more fun playing that one (even if it's also linear). I just don't give a rat's ass about this story or these characters, I hate the dungeon straight path settings that have defined the entire game up till now, I'm not crazy about the paradigms, the upgrade system is ridiculously confusing and complicated and time-consuming... it looks pretty but that's about it!

Yeah, I'm abandoning this game. I've never hated linear games, but this one takes it to an extreme. No towns, no NPCs to talk to. Just walking in a straight freaking line. There's nothing to do but the combat, which might not be so bad if the combat didn't suck royally.Only being able to control one party member makes me feel crippled. Plus, the combat lacks any real depth. You could get through the game just by auto-battle it seems. Also, the plot is terrible. I'm at least 10 hours in to the game and I still don't have any idea what's going on. The only reason I know what a fal'cie or a l'cie is, is because I read the databases. That's inexcusable. Important terms need to weaved into the narrative. I should never ever be required to consult the database.

I don't want to hear that the game gets good after 20 hours or so, because I don't want to slog through 20 hours of a crappy game on the off chance it may get better. I'm sad, I've loved the Final Fantasy series for so long, but this one just angers and dissapoints me. It's too bad that I'll have to wait until FFXV for the next chance at a good Final Fantasy game (unless they keep the formula of this one, in which case the series is dead to me) since XIV is a MMO that I have no interest in.

Yeah I'm tempted to drop it as well but I paid $50 for the damn thing and dammit I'm going to get my money's worth! :P Plus I just got like FIVE other games on super cheap I'm dying to play like Fallout 3, Halo Wars, Saints Row 2, Ass Creed 2, Orange Box...

I'm at the very end of Chapter 11 now. It's a shame because in Chapter 11, on Gran Pulse, I *FINALLY* started liking the game. It literally took 25 hours of gameplay to truly enjoy it. Here is the FF game I'd been waiting for all these years! Yeesh!

OK so I beat the boss at the end of Chapter 11. The walkthrough says "After the battle, your crystarium level will go up to 9 and saving all those CP will pay off. If your CS is not full yet, I suggest teleporting back to Gran Pulse after the fight". Uh... how do I teleport back to Gran Pulse?! I haven't been doing the side-missions, does that give you the ability to teleport back to old levels or something? Does mean I *can't* go back?

You have to walk all the way back to the start of Oerba and then use the teleport stone there (should be mission 28). If you haven't done ANY missions, then you have to go the LONG way and go through the tower and the caves (basically backtrack the entire way).

But yeah, certain missions give you the ability to teleport. It might be worth grinding now - the guide should show you some good grind spots.

Oh christ. If the stupid walkthrough had said those missions were necessary for this I would have DONE them. I thought they were purely optional and I was just trying to get through the game fast because I wasn't enjoying it until now. No way I'm backtracking through an entire stage now, I'm trying to finish it so I can sell it while it's still going high. Sigh.

You don't have to grind. And after you beat Chapter 12, you get a chance to return to Gran Pulse without having the travel back.

Grinding just makes 12 (and 13) much easier.

OK, I'm officially at my wit's end. I'm on the last chapter, at the part where you are at the clock like area surrounded by ultra powerful enemies that kill me in a couple rounds. So I went back and level grinded for THREE HOURS. I came back and they still insta-killed me. I think I'm done now. Is there anything amazingly fun in the final set of bosses? Is there some amazing story twist or movie that I absolutely have to see? Because I'm ready to move on to my seven other more fun games.

Just use the Deceptisols to skip all those battles. If you did the robot quest on Oerba, you should have at least 10.
