Hah, what language options does that version have?

Holland usually gets the same version the UK gets, with english as the only option...
They might replace the cover and booklet for ones with a Dutch translation, but not the game...
I do know there are some games with Dutch screentexts and even Dutch voice-acting, like the Ratchett & Clank games...
But i stick to English, it's what i'm used to...

Ah, I was hoping there'd be videos of Dutch FF characters or something.

Okay, I'm getting the ps3 version 'cos well I only have a ps3 but I can't be the only one struggling to see a difference in those comparisson vids, if that means the only disadvantage for the xbox is disc swapping, well hell I grew up on a playstation 1, I think I could cope.

It's relatively minor and unless you have a giant TV or sit close, you probably won't notice the difference.
Ironically, you might notice that the 360 version has a better frame rate before you notice the blurriness and the upscaling.

Well, the other title that was PS3 lead that I know of was Burnout Paradise... but I bought that mostly because they offered it as a discounted PSN release rather than any preference.

I didn't know that about BP. I wonder how it holds up across the platforms.

It runs in 1080p on the PS3 btw...
Can't wait to try it on the new 1080p gargantu-jector over the bed that we use for the drive-in movie effect!

The game comes out in like two days. Are you going to get it? I found the last two FF games to be disappointing. FFX-2 was nothing but sidequests, and I disliked the gambit system of FFXII. Hopefully FXIII will be much better.
I loved trying to tweak gambits to reflect the perfect tactical rules and priorities for specialist characters in in XII. Maintaining buffs, healing, the primary attacker with secondary curing responsibilities if the healer was silenced or something, selecting weakest targets first, etc. Trying different approaches and ideas was great stuff, I thought.

Played many times after beating the game just to experiment with different gambit rules and level my characters. Sorry you did not get into it that much.

The new battle system has a bit of the gambit system, though it is closer to Kingdom Hearts...
You only control the team leader and the others will act depending on what role they are assigned and what you know about the enemy...

I plan on getting a PS3 in a month or two, but I sort of want to get this as a present for my roommate. Worth waiting to get the PS3 version or should I go with the 360?

Can you set anyone in your party as the team leader or does it always have to be the "main star" of the game?

I think you can set any of them to be team leader, but i'm not that far in yet...
Right now the group is divided in 3 and you switch between them, each group has a set leader...

Yeah, unless you need to play it sooner rather than later.

Well, it renders in 720p. And sub 720p on Xbox. So I'm not sure how much of a selling point 1080p output is unless your TV is ass at upscaling.

Well, my tv says it's 1080p...
And yes that is through a HDMI cable...
But that doesn't really mean anything. It's still a 720p image that's being stretched by the PS3. If you set your PS3 to output 720p then it'll show up as 720p on your TV, and unless your TV really sucks at upscaling it probably won't look any worse.

Beyond3D has a good list of what resolution games are really rendering at, along with a lot of extra tech info that nobody here likely cares about :)

Ah well...
It still looks pretty enough...
But it could easily render the game at "real" 1080, because it isn't a busy game, with lots of things going on at the same time...
But either way, it really doesn't matter that much to me...
It's an interesting and fun game up till now...

Well I got my copy yesterday. Played it for a few hours and I'm definitely enjoying it so far.

It takes foreeeever to get interesting... chapter 5 is when it starts to at least become a game.

I'm enjoying it so far though - my first real stab at FF since 6. I just wish I could play it in Japanese though. Oh well.

Holy crap I pre-ordered on Amazon and it actually came on Wednesday! The last two I got took a week after release date to arrive. Won't get to start until Saturday though.

Chapter 5 is certainly where the difficulty level ups a notch or two.

The Feral Behemoths caused me a few problems to begin with until I found a strategy that worked quickly against them. The trickiest encounters were the ones where you end up 10 on 2. They were tough, just because the sheer weight of numbers against you.

Also, the end of level boss, Bulbasaur, or whatever his name really is, is rock hard. Unleashed Odin on him, and hit him with everything I had, and barely scratched the surface!

So the X-Play review says there isn't a penalty for dying you just restart back before the battle started, is that right? And that you're automatically healed at the end of every battle? I like the sound of this stuff. I'm not in it for the challenge but the experience.
