Final Fantasy IV Virtual Console

To those of you in America who bought the recent release of Final Fantasy IV on the virtual console, has it been released as the original Final Fantasy IV or the dumbed down Final Fantasy II?

I'd believe that it's the original SNES version. There'd be no reason to get it unless you don't have a DS and can't get the superior remake.

Only reason I've asked is because several websites are saying it's the inferior Final Fantasy II version. I'm wondering why Square-Enix would continue the outdated numbering convention for America after all these years.

Hmmm, that sucks. I think they should have released the unedited version of IV with a new translation and just made the game 100-200 Wii points more expensive for the effort. It would've been worth it.

I suppose this means there'll be no VC release of V, and VI will be released as III, complete with all the translation errors of the initial SNES release.

I guess it looks as though Europe won't be getting any of the pre-VII Final Fantasy games then. That's just stupid.

Didn't we already get them on the original playstation. They slapped a nw intro on them and then shipped them out often two to a disc. I would provide a link but I am lazy and hopefully soon drunk. But I've recently been playing FF Origins which is one and two and I also have a copy of six, labeled as such. The others inbetween I know exist but don't own or have actually seen.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't just release the updated Playstation version of IV or even the gameboy advance version. Either way, there are multiple updated versions of FFIV out there so this virtual console version seems rather useless

They will probably put the PsOne remakes on the PSN...
And the Gamebo Advance versions maybe for the DSi?

Yeah, I agree that the DS remake is great, it'd just be nice to have the original version available to play on a big screen. I realise it was released on the PSOne a few years back, but I found it to be almost unplayable due to loading times and a poor aspect ratio.
