Nope, doesn't count. Set and match!
So if I were to say that I'm a tin-plated dictator with delusions of godhood, that would just be my opinion too?![]()
Wow. People are just saying a ton of stuff I agree with today.

Who was the poster here who, with zero filmmaking experience and zero professional writing experience and absolutely nothing to do with the entertainment industry, said he could make a great (and true) Trek movie if you gave him the same amount of money?![]()
I honesty believe that a fan could write something better than these "hollywood writers".
I don't understand. How can you call this a "mess" without knowing more about it. I understand the fact that you may not personally like the the plot, but how does that qualify a film to be called a "mess".We're just lucky he seems to care about making Star Trek consistent and reasonably true to its legacy.
I've seen parodies that were closer to that mark than what this mess is looking to be.

Can someone explain what makes this Abrams guy SO QUALIFIED to take on a sensative project such as this? I mean really!
Recent record of significant financial success. That's the only qualification that counts in Hollywood.
We're just lucky he seems to care about making Star Trek consistent and reasonably true to its legacy. He could make a big hit movie without bothering with such things at all.

It's easy, you just type it and hit "Submit Reply."
Watch:
"Star Trek TOS is an avocado."
It doesn't have to mean something or be true in order to be a properly constructed English sentence. Our "friend" does a lot of this where the new Trek movie is concerned.
I honesty believe that a fan could write something better than these "hollywood writers".
That opinion is extraordinarily naive and uninformed.
I mean I could go around complaining about you being so pro the movie.
Well since I'm so naive...and uninformed .....maybe you can explain to me why my statement is such.
In a way, Starship Polaris is being the polar opposite of Captain Robert April in anticipation of this movie.
But I suspect if this movie sucks, Polaris will willingly admit he was wrong about it.
I would, but it's highly unlikely that I'd feel this way. I don't think I've seen a movie that I knew a substantial amount about prior to viewing it and had the experience turn out completely different from my expectation going in - in (relatively rare) cases the movie turns out to be better than I expected and more frequently it's a mild disappointment. Almost never is it "all the advertising and information and feedback made the movie look awesome but wow it sucked eggs."

On the other hand, if Star Trek turns out to be the next Iron Man or The Dark Knight, CRA will continue to bash it.
