Who was the poster here who, with zero filmmaking experience and zero professional writing experience and absolutely nothing to do with the entertainment industry, said he could make a great (and true) Trek movie if you gave him the same amount of money?
I honesty believe that a fan could write something better than these "hollywood writers".

I don't understand. How can you call this a "mess" without knowing more about it. I understand the fact that you may not personally like the the plot, but how does that qualify a film to be called a "mess".
I've seen parodies that were closer to that mark than what this mess is looking to be.
Bad writing/acting/directing...THAT can constitute a mess. All you are describing so far is "a film with a plot direction that trekBBS member CRA doesn't like".
Calling a film a mess is pretty much an objective thing (for the most part). Saying "I don't personally don't like the direction the plot took" is more of a subjective thing.
My point is this: so you don't like the plot of this film. Fine. However, don't say that the film will be "bad" or "poorly done" -- the fact that the plot of this film may not be like you wanted it to be has no relevance to the general quality of this film.

Ok I'll make that concession but it's based on "articles" and "interviews" ...we'll have to see if he remains true what he's saying and what his definition of a deeper drama with some action thrown in is...

Everybody is entitled to their opinion even when it differs from yours. I mean I could go around complaining about you being so pro the movie. Of course there is going to be naysayers.....deal with it...and yeah I said naysayers.

In a way, Starship Polaris is being the polar opposite of Captain Robert April in anticipation of this movie. But I suspect if this movie sucks, Polaris will willingly admit he was wrong about it. On the other hand, if Star Trek turns out to be the next Iron Man or The Dark Knight, CRA will continue to bash it.

Oh really? What do you work for the guild or something? Well since I'm so naive (LOL i mean really) and uninformed .....maybe you can explain to me why my statement is such.

I would, but it's highly unlikely that I'd feel this way. I don't think I've seen a movie that I knew a substantial amount about prior to viewing it and had the experience turn out completely different from my expectation going in - in (relatively rare) cases the movie turns out to be better than I expected and more frequently it's a mild disappointment. Almost never is it "all the advertising and information and feedback made the movie look awesome but wow it sucked eggs."
"Superman Returns" was a mild disappointment but I enjoyed it a great deal - just not as much as I'd hoped. "Watchmen" turned out to be a better experience than some of the reviews suggested - I didn't feel that the movie dragged after the first twenty minutes or that it didn't develop a lot of narrative momentum, both supposed flaws that were pointed out in considered commentary. In the end, people just have different tastes and expectations.
That said, I rarely go to see a movie based primarily on hype - for example, I hear that "Snakes On A Plane" was not so hot, but while I completely enjoyed and participated in all the Internet build-up about it there was nothing in the actual information or advertising that made it look better than mediocre, so I never actually planned to see it and I didn't.
yes, there's a difference between just hoping something will be good and having a reasonably good basis on which to conclude that something will likely be good. i think this new star trek film falls into the latter category.
