File Front to Close

I just wanted to let everyone know that filefront (home to mod files for Bridge Commander, Elite Force, Legacy, and a slew of other games) will be closing its doors on March 30.

That sucks. I was just looking at effiles.com (haven't been in a while) and it looks like they pulled all the Australian mirror links.

If anyone has any files from FF that they'd like to see online again, PM me, and I could mirror them at least for a little while.

This really sucks. Now I've got to find a new site to download BC mods. Plus bcfiles.com was a cool site. It's nice having one central location to go to for mods for many games.

What a shame. It was an incredible resources for Bridge Commander and Starfleet Command mods. I spent far more hours modding those games than actually playing them!

Really bad news for those of us who like to occasionally pull games off a shelf and reinstall them. There'd be a fair few old patches which will disappear with FileFront.

Now I know to carefully back up those BC mods rather than delete them!
Thanks for the heads up. I wonder what the reason is...

Perhaps some people here who already have well organized collections of the ST files from there can check for an ommissions and then working collectively an archive can (at least theoretically) be maintained. Not having broadband at home, or probably more than a few files from the site, I can't really pitch in -- much to my regret.

Apparently everything's been backed-up, and there's something in the pipe-line for BC bods at least.

A shame for the whole network to close so suddenly - there's a lot of stuff hosted on there for basically all the biggest PC games of the last decade.

I'm sorry to say the time has come. All categories for downloads have been deleted on the websites.

Shame they're going - surpirsed they lasted so long - must be expensive hosting so many Terabytes of files and only having adverts to pay for stuff.

Wow. Last night I deleted my mods folder off my hard drive because I figured I could download them again if I ever reinstall any of my games.

The universe is messing with me again.
