I'm watching the Food Network last night a commercial comes on. The commercial is talking about the digital change-over happening next Spring.

The speaker in the commercial said, correctly, that if you've cable you're good. But if you've an older set and you get TV over the air then you're not so good and the commercial gave a website, phone number, or an address (something) you can contact to get more information on the switch over.

Let me say that again in case you didn't get it.

I was watching a CABLE network and a commercial came on telling people who get tv OVER THE AIR where they can get information regarding the change-over.

:wtf:

Some people do have more than 1 TV in the house, and some may be using set top aerials/antennas or rooftop aerials/antennas to feed the other TVs while the main is using cable or satellite.

Going out on a limb... I'm betting anyone who has more than on TV in the house also has all their TVs hooked up to cable. Not too much a stretch.

Maybe so, I don't know about in the US, but in the UK that costs extra, but then in the UK Satellite and (most) cable services went digital years back.

Maybe they are just getting the word out...maybe if a group of people are watching over at someones house, it will remind all of the people that don't have cable that they will need to do something...

It is weird, but plausible.

Cable commercials are always a little weird. I have Charter cable, but I get a lot of commercials for Comcast cable, even though it's not even available out here.

Generally not the case in the US. You've cable it's for the whole home, additional set-top boxes (for premium/higher tier channels) costs more but if the home has cable at the very least all TVs in the home that can connect to a cable-jack can get cable.

I know a few people who have small TVs in their kitchen.

None of them have it hooked up to cable, even though they have cable. They just watch the local news in the morning, so why bother running a cable through your cabinets?
