Fight Club turns 10.

^^ The buildings they were destroying erased the credit record of the United States, plunging the world into an economic meltdown that destroyed society and resulted in mankind returning to hunter-gatherer status. That's the whole point of the movie. Tyler Durden destroyed modern society. Remember Tyler's monologue: "In the world I see - you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty car pool lane of some abandoned superhighway."

That is most definitely not the point of the movie.

That was the point of Project Mayhem, and the film's eye definitely looks upon that and all involved as total retards.

Sent by the hand of God! ;) I know its a wonky way to look at it but the clues are there. Yes they were idiots, they were the moronic instrument used instead of a flood.

Every time I watch this movie I wonder how Jack was able to shoot Tyler in the head and not kill himself in the process.

If you watch carefully, you'll see quite clearly that Tyler deliberately screwed up his aim - making him fire through his left cheek instead of blowing his brains through the back of his skull!

However...Tyler may have prevented Jack from killing himself, but he still couldn't erase Jack's very clear intent to kill Tyler! (And in this case, since Tyler isn't "real," intent is all that matters.) Also notice that when you see Tyler collapse after asking "What's that smell...?" you'll see quite clearly that the back of Tyler's "skull" is blown out! :D

I'm sure that whatever information was contained in those buildings was backed up in many other redundant sites that those Mayhem wackos didn't even know about.

Not in movie logic ;) Jack says in the movie that if the buildings go down everybody gets reset to zero. And Tyler earlier gave his vision of a technology-free anarchic society of hunter-gatherers.
