It's odd, maybe it's just me, but the year 1992 can still somehow sound futuristic to me. It was the year I graduated high school though.
Most of the main HP characters - and a good deal of the secondary characters - have full birthdates, as someone previously mentioned. Harry's and Severus' birthdays have already been mentioned, but here are several more:

But looking at her birthdays in Seaons 2 & 3 and that they're on school days, you can work out her birthday is January 20th 1981
