Feline Follies

Welp - hate to be a downer in this fun thread but, 'Her Royal Fluffiness' Smokey just cross that ol' Rainbow Bridge today.

Her weight loss and other issues (arthritis, muscle loss etc...) finally came out as full renal failure over the last week or so.
Sorry for your loss

I've asked this before, but would you know why my cat sometimes poops on top of the litter box lid (top entry) instead of doing his business inside? Nothing has changed. It gets cleaned the same, the litter brand is the same, the location is the same, he's not sick. I swapped his main litter box with the secondary box and he was using that just fine for a few days, but then this morning he decided to poop on top of that lid too! And then later when I happened to be right in front of it, I watched him go inside the litter box no problem.

Is he mad at you? Does the litter bother his feet? Does he have health issues where he might not have good bowel control?

There's nothing wrong with him or the litter. He does it just because he wants to. With the lid off, he poops inside the box no problem.

When he's mad, he can get really mad. But it goes away pretty quickly, especially if treats are involved.
