Not that it cannot happen, but I have never, ever seen a cat want to play fetch.

My old orange cat Max used to play fetch when he was young. I'd toss his favorite toy and he'd bring it back and drop it at my feet. It would last about 4 or 5 throws and then he'd move on to something else, but that behavior lasted for a year or two.

My neighbor had a cat that brought you toys to throw and she'd chase them and return them for you to throw again. (I used to cat sit for them) My cats never deigned to play like that, although our ginger cat used to bring us horrible trophies like bunny heads. And no, we didn't throw them for him.

My male tried something similar once. Not across the faucets like that, but he fell in just the same. He also fell in the toilet once. I miss that big dingus.

About one in three by my informal polling of several years ago. Most cats will play "pounce" were they chase down the thrown toy. The brilliant ones bring it back for you to throw again.

I remember well the Squirt, when much younger came rushing up to me with a wig she found in the basement (Bigger than she was), dropped it at my feet "MEOW!!" In the happiest tone I have heard her use. "Look what I killed!!"

At what point do you throw out the cat tree? My cat's tree is still sturdy but it's gotten pretty dirty (and washing it only seems to make it worse), and he's taken a good chunk of rope from all the poles. He's the only cat so as far as he's concerned his territory is perfectly fine.
