Federation Class: MKIII

Ya- Im not too keen on that flat boring dully grey... I'm still working on the little details though. Little lights, RCS, and so on.

In the mean time. Here's some dish detail. I really wish I could make this a golden metallic... The stem that holds the feed horn (it may be called something else, but that's what I found on a quick image search- please advise if you know otherwise), are both made from a one follow me extrusion. I love that feature!

Reverse the red and green on your docking port. The red should be to the shuttle's left.

Like when navigating on the water?

See- I'm actually a little confused about that when it comes to the point of the docking rings. If a shuttle is docking, it's backing up to it. And if the ship is docking, does the gantry (or whatever it's called), count?

So are the rules the same, or does it change because of how it's used?

Sorry it took so long to get back. Been busy with that whole "life" thing.;) Anyway I was thinking it would be best for it to match the shuttle that way the shuttle puts his red light on the port's red side to make sure he's not upside down. Or you could drop the the color and go with a "this end up, arrow" something like subs have on their escape trunks.

Damn life... Always poking it's head where it doesn't belong. Fantasy is much more profitable...

I just changed the colours yesterday. Though a big arrow does have its merits :). I may even plaster "Fragile" across it, but everyone has to pronounce it "Frageel-a".

I keep thinking this is from Futurama. Instead of making the Enterprise fatter and calling it 'Nimbus', you went the other way and squashed it up into the vertical. It's certainly a new take on things, which is always nice to see.

That's funny you mention that. It used to look just like the Enterprise. But some damned Orion Trader side swiped the ship when it was parked next to an asteroid diner. Squashed the bugger flat.

Everything still worked, so they re-named her, and continued on their merry way!

it sortof reminds me of the direct-tv dishes

One more for today. I like how the shadowing really brings out the depth in the windows, as well as emphasizes other aspects of the ship.

As for FredH's comment, I'm not exactly sure what you are suggesting...

To hell with life you're not gonna survive it anyway.

Hmmm... Seems like I don't see any weaponry on the ship

I tried to use the multiquote... It's not blackberry friendly.

If you look at the bottom bow windows, you'll see a little red circle. That's where the phaser is located. Go back to my thread with the 1st version, and there's a cuttaway 2D paint drawing showing the phaser battery.

It's not a ship expecting much trouble- and I've always envisioned a starfleet that is really less eventful (as far as hostilities go)...

I may put in a limited photorp launcher too, but space is limited.

You can always rationalise giving it a launcher because it's needed to launch probes as well. That way it's science, not an atom bomb flinger. :)
