Federation-Class Dreadnought Refit (No, not a TMP one)

Ok, that engineering hull dorsal phaser is a big mistake... You need to remove it!

I can't remove it. It's part of the design. That's what the Fed DNG has in Star Fleet Battles and Federation Commander.

The original Dreadnought has those phasers.

Looks like you came up with something on the Kzinti for the windows, which worked fine.
I know you use max, but with C4D I'd select the polies that the windows were going to be inside the boundaries of and do an "inner extrude" with "preserve groups" unchecked. Then just use the "offset" adjustment to set the size. Another extrude and scale inward a tad and it'd be done. (More or less ;))

You can get a tut at Scifi-Meshes. Basically you´ll need to use boolean (cut and refine) to make the windows. Of course that you´ll still have the verts to clean. There´s no way to completelly avoid this. ;)

Yeah, I actually wish they were modeled. Believe it or not, my modeling skills aren't that advanced. So I'm not really sure what the best method to use is. I doubt booleans would be a terribly efficient method. At the very least I'd be optimizing the mesh forever. I don't know. If anyone's got any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear 'em. :)

In Lightwave I make simple 2D stencils for the windows and then 'drill' them into the hull. You then just select the windows and smooth-shift or bevel them into the hull.

Nice work Ice_

Though I think I prefer the upward angle nacelles to the horizontals. The just look...I don't know off. It's nothing with your model, I've just always has a probably with that nacelle style.

Thanks for the tips on modeling windows, everyone. They've been really helpful. Modeling windows on a perfectly flat surface, like my kzinti ships, is easy enough. Modeling them on curved surfaces is what I've been scratching my head over. I'm gonna give it a shot on my next model, though. I'll show you guys when I have some results. :)
