OK, guys...we have four entries:

Garm Bel Iblis: "Chooseyourownadventure.net"
Kaziarl: "Kobayashi Maru" (story) (placeholder thread)
KobayashiMaru13: "First Contacts"
mari: "The Ensign" (story) (placeholder thread)

You get to choose ONE entry. NO voting for yourself.

Please be careful to remember that we have a story called "Kobayashi Maru" by Kaziarl, and a contest entrant using the nickname KobayashiMaru13, who wrote a story called "First Contacts." PLEASE look carefully if you intend to vote for one of these two, and make sure you are voting for who you wish to vote for!

Voting will close on the evening of 4 March.

Gotta say, I liked Mari's. It actually kinda reminded me of those old Choose Your Own Adventure books I read as a kid. Don't remember who published them, but it was always the same kid, and he often ended up traveling through time or something like that. (No... not where in time was Carmen SanDiego, although that was fun too.)

It was fun to read, good job to you. As well as everyone else.

Going to vote for KobayashiMaru13's story, "First Contacts." I found myself surprised by the overwhelming number of rather fatalistic entries--so the fact that this one wasn't necessarily so really made it stand out from the crowd.

I voted for "First Contacts". I had fun exploring all the different possibilities, the planet and its multiple cultures was cool and the away team characters were all very interesting. (KM13, is that plant-hominid species yours or from lit or...?)

I don't know about anybody else, but when I was a kid reading the CYOA series, I actually TRIED to get all the endings where my character died. :rommie: Maybe I have issues...? Anyway, that's why the engineering (redshirt) ensign idea occurred to me. You just know it can't end well for him/her!

Also, the toughest part of the challenge had to have been never mentioning a name or gender for the main character. Or species. :p My hat is off to professional CYOA authors!

While agreeing with Nerys's analysis, found Kaz's tale very interesting.

Until KM submitted her entry, Kaz was actually going to be my top choice. While it was rather fatalistic, there was at least one path that had a real air of nobility about it.

Yeah, that plant-hominid species (his name is Yera'sy, and he's a Xets'Ung) is my own creation. Haha, and I always tried to find all the endings where my character died too! Maybe we BOTH have issues...

Anyways, I voted for Garm Bel Iblis's entry. It was funny, and nasty concerning it was a no-win Borg scenario. I liked Kaz's too, for all the different endings, and mari's, because it followed in the traditional CYOA stories. Props to you all!

Yay! I got a vote. I am content now, lol. Good work to everyone, and congrats to whoever wins.

now to do some work on New Empires

Like I said, Kaz, you had a good story and would've gotten my vote if not for KM's last-minute entry. Definitely commend yourself on a job well done, as well.

Oh, I am. My belief is that if atleast 1 person enjoyed it, then it's a job well done. I don't enter these to win, and I'd be completely baffled if I ever did win cause then I'd have to come up with a new one. lol.

Congrats KM. You're the one.

Good job to all four entrants, and to those who didn't get theirs done (if any) I'm sure we'd still like to read them. At least I would.

And now I patiently wait for the next contest.
