February Art Challenge - B.J.'s entry

B.J.

I decided to do one in a similar style to the old travel posters. I kept flip-flopping between calling this either Lake Armstrong or New Berlin. (And no, I don't think the name refers to an actual lake on the moon! Plenty of real cities named Lake XXXX.)

I wonder what those Starfleet guys are doing there. by that era, the moon would have been explored to death. I don't see any surveying equipments for any future construction for a new starfleet installation.

A cadet or trainee trying to rack up hours of experience walking in a low-gravity environment, perhaps?

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Deletes my Titan City/Lake Armstrong WIP. :-(
The last contest had everyone working on the same thing, so why can't two entries be on the same city? I'm sure we have very different interpretations and styles. Don't give up yet!

You dodged one bullet, but not two lol...

LOL! Yup...seems that way.

And to the others...I hear what you're saying and completely agree. And although I did have the same idea, I never got started on it beyond a quick pencil sketch. Work has kept me quite busy this month. My little comment was half joke and half praise. :-)

I always thought that three statues of Collins Armstrong and Aldrin would look best atop the stump of the LEM descent stage left behind--as a dais.

I thought about showing the descent stage somewhere in there, but I thought it would be better to show something *large*, since it is supposed to be able to be seen from Earth. At the scale shown, the LEM probably wouldn't even be a pixel. Of course, that assumes that Lake Armstrong is anywhere near Tranquility Base. ;)
