Favourite lines: Beyond

F. King Daniel

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
What were your favourite lines in Beyond? I think mine's Sulu, getting the most badass line for the second film in a row:

"You have no idea who we are. But you'll soon find out."

Oooo, that's a tough one. A lot of the stuff with Spock and Bones was great, Scotty had soe good ones so did Kirk and Chekov. But I think I'm gonna have to go with this particular exchange:
"Alright Spock, I just got one question. What's your favorite color?"
"I fail to see the relevance AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
"Yeah. Well, they say it hurts less if it's a surprise."
"If I may adopt a parlance with which you are familiar, I can confirm your theory to be horse sh*t."

That's the line that got the biggest laugh from me and the theater I was in, it's the only one I can really remember too. I can't wait for the disc to be released!

The horseshit line and "he likes that seat".

I also like Quinto Spock's lines when he's talking to NuBones about Nimoy Spock. It's clear those lines with both in universe and fourth wall.

"Vice Admirals don't fly, do they?"
"No"

Simply because it was such a clear connection to the same choice Kirk Prime made (presumably) at the end of TOS...except NuKirk chose to stay in command.

"It's hard to stay grounded...when even the gravity is artifical"...and the rest of Kirk's opening log. In TOS we were presented with the idea that the crew was just happy as can be larking around the universe without seeing Earth, or their family..I found the opening monologue to really carry an authentic weight of fatigue attached to it...and the reality of everyday life aboard the Enterprise.

Not so much the line as the way Jaylah looks at Kirk afterwards, like "You like this seat so much, go ahead and take it from me".

I liked Sulu's borderline offended "You kidding me, sir?" when Kirk asks him if he can fly the Franklin, and Scotty's offhand mention of the green space hand. Plus just about everything Jaylah said.

Good runner up rom McCoy and Spock:
"So, you gave your girlfriend radioactive jewelry?"
"The emission is harmless, doctor. Its unique signature makes it very easy to identify."
"You gave your girlfriend a tracking device?"
*beat* "That was not my intention."

This got the second biggest laugh out of me.

Amazingly, this got the first biggest laugh:

.....and not even a word spoken :D

A lot of the film as moments for me, more than lines. But generally some lines that stood out to me were:

- "Better to die saving lives, than to live by taking them. That's what I was born into."
....which was a nice companion to his chat with McCoy early in the film.

- "The farther out we go, the more I find myself wondering what it is we are trying to accomplish. But if the universe is truly endless, then we are not striving for something forever out of reach"
.....which is a favourite just because it sets Kirk out nicely for this film, and already feels more mature than the first two films, and....

"This was you're idea!"
......as the delivery matched TMP perfectly!
