JK Rowling's known for her very amusing character names (the most major exceptions being, ironically, the main characters, though 'Hermione' is reasonably rare): your favourite?

Although Severus is my favorite character, and I really do love his name, I think the best and most interesting name of the series is Dumbledore's full name: Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. In fact, I won a Pottercast Tour poster at the KC stop by spelling his full name correctly, in the proper order.

I would just LOVE to know where his names came from. I wonder if JK will reveal anything about them from the books.

Another name I like is Irma Pince. There is a good-sized group out there (which I'm a part of) which believes that Irma Pince is an anagram that turns into "I'm a Prince" and that she is actually Eileen Prince in disguise... :D

As much as I enjoy the alliteration of so many of her character names, my two favorites have to be the blatant ones:

Sirius Black (Sirius = Dogstar, Black = black... or in other words, Sirius Black = Black Dog)

Remus Lupin (Remus = mythological character suckled by a wolf, Lupine = characteristic or resembling a wolf... or in other words, Remus Lupin = Wolfy Wolf-child)

:D

Nymphadora Tonks is my obvious favorite, because I am certain that the chick was a sex beast, and Nymphadora evokes images of "nymphomaniac".

The list in the poll is great, but I laughed out loud the loudest at Prof. Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank

I must confess I thought Delores Umbridge was most aptly named as well.

Appelations one of the things Rowling does best, matching the names to the charatcer. These are all delightful. How could you not love a loon named "Luna Lovegood"? Or delight in the impishness of a "Nymphadora Tonks"?

I especially adore the aliteration of Severus Snape, and the way the name sounds said aloud. So I voted for Severus. (Thank you, Mr. Rickman.)

We know from DH that he received his first middle name from his father, but it hasn't been yet revealed where his first name or his second, third, and fourth middle names came from; hopefully, though, that will change once Jo publishes her encyclopedia (which she will eventually).

I've always imagined the writers of the Bond movies kicking themselves for not thinking of that name first.

It's a curiously 'hot' name for a chick who's just plain weird. But we all lover her for her weirdness.

I think she became an instant favorite of mine when she appeared with the carrot earrings and reading the magazine upside down.

And it was remarkable how somebody who's seemingly not 'all there' can be so insightful at times.

I fell inlove with all the strange names.. they just roll so nicely on the tongue.. and also the clever meanings of the names. Streetnames also the same.
From the list above my favorites where:
Sirious Black, awesome name.
Bellatrix Lestrange.. ubercool

but it changes all the time.
