Favourite Games of 2010

I have mainly been playing on my Xbox 360, I did try a couple of PC games but I was a bit disappointed (The Witcher was a disaster as far as I am concerned). In no particular order these are the ones I enjoyed the most:

Red Dead Redemption: I got really immersed in it, the graphics, the voice acting, the very precise controls made me feel very much "in the game" and I loved it.
Dragon Age Origins Awakenings and the other DLCs: I loved DA:O and happily got me every DLC and the expansion. I love Fantasy games, they are probably my favourites all in all, and it was time for a well written one. The graphics weren't spectacular but what can you do? I have high hopes for DA 2.
Mass Effect 2 - It was definitelyt not as cool as the first one, in that the story was not nearly as engrossing. The first was a masterpiece, the second felt more like they were milking the cow, I hope the third will go back to being awesome.
Fable III: loved the second, couldn't wait for the third, they didn't change much, which sometimes is a very good idea. I really enjoyed it.
Fallout: New Vegas: not nearly as good as FO3, for now, but still delivering good times. I'm still playing this so I haven't formed a full opinion on it yet.

I also had a very good time playing Toy Story 3. :shifty:

WoW: Cataclysm: I like the redone areas, especially the undead stuff. the new, "give every class their core ability at 10" feature is awesome. i am taking my time with the 80-85 stuff, i am just now getting into deepholm.

Blur: this game is awesome. it's a modern day mario kart, but without all of the super lame rubberbanding. it's too bad it tanked.

Monday Night Combat: it's a 3rd person shooter DotA. it's awesome. it was my addiction until...

nba 2k11. i buy basketball games once a console generation, and even then, i buy it used so it's already old. not this time. not for jordan. and right now, i dont really play the jordan modes. i am playing my created player. he started off horrible. couldnt do much of anything, and over the course of two seasons he's become a monster of a power forward. the sense of progress, of accomplishment is outstanding. the presentation for the halftime reports and the "player of the game" segments are something i hope to see more games integrate.

My favourite games of 2010
Limbo
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Halo: Reach
Red Dead Redemption
Medal of Honor
Mass Effect 2
Enslaved
Heavy Rain

3. Mystery Case Files: 13th Skull - I've been a big fan of the MCF series since Huntsville and it is great to see it develop into a game that could carry a story over various games and keep improving. This game added interactive characters, which do more to bring the story to life.

I'm really looking forward to playing this game, but do you have any idea when the standard version is coming out? Big Fish still only has the Collector's edition available and it's driving me crazy that they won't even list a date for the standard release.

My favorite game this year was Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. The Professor Layton games are so addictive, and this one was no different. The puzzles are just the perfect amount of difficulty and I love the cut scenes and voice acting.

I only actually finished one game but played some others. Still, my list isn't very long.

1. Vanquish (PS3) - The game that brought me back to gaming and the first game I actually finished in years. Fast paced, beautiful to look at and just exciting.

2. Call of Duty: Black Ops (PS3) - I've only had this game for about a week. Love the on-line mutiplayer mode. Started the singleplayer but I doubt I'll finish that any time soon.

3. Angry Birds (IPod) - Die you lousy green pigs, DIE!

Bioshock 2. Improved upon the 2007 GOTY in every way, and Sophia Lamb is one of the more intriguing antagonists in gaming.

Twenty seven posts and not a single vote for Super Mario Galaxy 2 or StarCraft II? Seriously?

Best games of 2010

1. StarCraft II

This is quite possibly the best game of all time, so it wins 2010 GOTY fairly easily.

2. Super Mario Galaxy 2

Take Super Mario Galaxy, which is the best Mario game ever made, polish it to perfection, and add in some actual challenge. If there's a better 3D platformer I haven't played it. This game almost gives StarCraft II some competition.

3. A Super Mario Thing

Fantastic rom hack of Super Mario World.

In rough order, because 1 and 2 could swap positions pretty easily depending on my mood of the day:

  1. Mass Effect 2
  2. Red Dead Redemption
  3. Alan Wake
  4. Halo: Reach
  5. Fable III
  6. Splinter Cell: Conviction
I'm pretty sure that I'll be receiving Mafia II for Xmas, and I bought but have not yet started Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.
Now that I've finished Mafia II and rethought things a little bit, I'm going to revise my list, though the caveat regarding the top two spots still applies.

  1. Mass Effect 2
  2. Red Dead Redemption
  3. Alan Wake
  4. Mafia II
  5. Halo: Reach
  6. Splinter Cell: Conviction
  7. Fable III

Sorry, I have no idea when the standard edition is coming out.

The Favourite Games of 2010 is

1. Counter Strike
2. Call of duty 4
3. Need for speed
4. Cricket 2010
5. NFS Carbon

Call of Duty Black Ops- It's my favourite COD campaign to date
Medal of Honor- A pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting much, as the last few MOH games haven't been spectacular, but it was a very tense and realistic shooter
Fallout New Vegas- I actually don't like it as much as FO3, and it has a few bugs, but its still a classy game
Mafia 2- Very linear, but still masterfully presented. An entertaining game

Thats about all the games I bought this year. I did buy some others, not made in 2010, though.

Call of Duty 4
Prince of Persia (2008 reboot)
Killzone 2
Brothers In Arms Hells Highway

Halo 3 ODST: Most fun I've had playing a Halo game in a long time.

Halo Reach: Brought a sense of intensity back that I thought was lacking in Halo 3.

COD Black Ops: Very interesting story line and cool new weapons. Finally got the Galil. Yay!

Far Cry 2: Underrated game with beautiful graphics and a good story. I could waste hours just exploring.
