Favourite Episode and Why?

I go back and forth between Balance of Terror and The Doomsday Machine.

BOT is just wonderfully written. Tight, tense.

TDM is so tragic.

I think both are great stories, perfectly executed.

In my personal opinion, there is much of TOS that was just plain great. I wished the spinoffs had held my attention the way TOS has for the last forty years.

Corbomite Maneuver hands down. Supense, action, and Kirk sums it up best when he says:

KIRK: What's the mission of this vessel, Doctor? To seek out and contact alien life, and an opportunity to demonstrate what our high-sounding words mean.

For me pretty much a tie, the ones with the most drama, intensity and challenges: "Balance of Terror," "Amok Time" and "Mirror, Mirror" with "Space Seed" just behind.
