Genesis and Destiny - Tom
Resurrection - Davo
Revelation - Colin
Remembrance - McCoy

Well worth maybe skipping ahead and watching them. They all follow on from each other.

Genesis, no doubt about it. Even though I use his name here. His fate at the end of it should have been it.

Genesis gets my vote for trying to tell a hard SF origin story about Who's greatest villains despite working-in some thinly veiled Nazi allegories and a bit of Frankensteinian anti-science.

But I really was tempted to go with "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End" for the fantastic portrayal of Davros by Julian Bleach (as others have noted) and the Doctor's line early in the first episode, "Klom. Klom's gone? Who'd want Klom?" It took me years to make the connection with "Love and Monsters".

I have a soft spot for Davros. Oh sure, he's a rampant ethnic-purity type and a bit of a sociopath, but that unique brilliance of his somehow manages to keep him going well past his expiration date. He's clearly got the spirit of an extropian. On his good days, he and I have a lot in common.

ANYWAY, the thing that grinds me down about him and the Daleks in general is none of their plans really seem to make much sense. They're written to be villains doing villainous things and it's always destroy this and exterminate that with them. That's what makes "Dalek" my favorite Dalek episode of all time.

Davros did to the Daleks what Voyager did to the Borg. I largely prefer the previous Dalek stories but for the purposes of this thread...

The Tom Baker ones are pretty average.

Resurrection was ok but not very memorable.

Revelation has that memory of being a great story but every time I watch it I get disappointed.

Remembrance was undoubtedly the best. Davros was superfluous to the plot however, and probably would've been better had he not shown up at all.

Stolen Earth and Journey's End were OK but again filled with RTDs constant story of bringing back a billion Daleks but kill them all off again by the end of the episode. The regulars pushing the disabled Daleks round at the end was just embarrassing to watch.

That was my biggest issue with "Stolen Earth/Journey's End". I was mostly fine with stealing planets and the Tardis towing the Earth because I'm a fan of 50s era sci-fi B-movies. But the millions and billions of Daleks so easily defeated wore thin long before S4.

I have to say "Genesis of the Daleks", although Julian Bleach totally rocked as Davros in TSE/JE. I'd love to see JB reprise the role again at some point in the future, and hopefully in a story that isn't quite so over the top.

Perhaps bring him back, create a new race of Daleks, and wipe out the 'New Paradigm'.

Quite so.:techman:
Have another Imperial/Renegade storyline, merely as an excuse to ditch the universally loathed redesigned Daleks? Sure, why not. It's better than trusting another idiot writer to do an original Dalek storyline (bearing in mind Moffat has said he has trouble writing for Daleks, so could well delegate them again).

Has to be Genesis..

Out of everything else, it's all "bleargh!!" Revelation & Rememberance are the best of them, with Resurrection just edging into the 'watchable' category. Although I'm sure each story will have it's defenders, I find the rest to be pretty awful.

Hang on, who voted for Resurrection? Saward himself called it the worst Doctor Who story ever.

He must have forgotten about Time-Flight as well. That one makes any Dalek/Davros story look like [insert name of beloved serial/story here to avoid controversy]

Genesis of the Daleks, but I voted Journey's End cause its a bit unfair to have Genesis in there.

Genesis OF The Daleks the first one was the best, Davros was never better in any of the other ones.

The regulars pushing the disabled Daleks round at the end was just embarrassing to watch.

Donna's Dance Party is one of the few occasions I've actually turned to my wife and apologized for what we're watching.

I mean, "The Stolen Earth" / "Journey's End" almost works; the set-up, of the Daleks overthrowing Davros again and keeping him around as a "pet," is a pretty solid concept, and Julian Bleach was utterly fantastic ... but everything around it is just utter shit.

So I'd probably have to go with "Genesis of the Daleks" as the best story featuring Davros. The rest of the classic ones are mediocre at best (and it's hard to really call "Remembrance" a Davros story, considering that he appears for five minutes at the end).
