Sterling Holloway had an instantly recognizable voice and he used it to great effect as Winnie the Pooh. But if you mention Pooh, you have to include John Fiedler's Piglet and Paul Winchell's Tigger.

All excellent voice actors. But I still think Disney committed sacrilege by giving A.A. Milne's characters American accents!

I'm surprised it took until post #13 for him to get mention, but at least he did.

I've always found it rather amazing that Jim Cummings plays both Winnie the Pooh and the Tasmanian Devil. Now, that's range.

The Tasmanian Devil was of course originally voiced by Mel Blanc.

I like Voice Acting in general. So much talent in that field . Both June Foray, who voiced both Rocky and Natasha in Rocky and Bullwinkle and Marcia Wallace, who voiced Mrs. Krabappel on the Simpsons, are two good examples of that in the field. Mel Blanc, who did the voice of Bugs Bunny along with others on Looney Tunes is another one.

So many good memories come from me watching these talented people doing the work that they do so well. Being able to use their voices in so many ways, using different inflections, etc., is just a thrill to see every time.

Just remembered one other person that was damn good at voice acting. Robin Williams, may he rest in peace .

Also loved Lorenzo Music as Garfield! Heck, as far as I'm concerned he was Garfield . He embodied the lazy cat perfectly.

There's a neat movie out now on Netflix streaming and elsewhere, I Know That Voice. It's produced by John DiMaggio, and it's a series of interviews with dozens of voice actors, all the big names except Frank Welker, oddly enough. Voice directors like Andrea Romano too. It's really fascinating if you're a fan of voice acting.

You're right about this. I caught it while browsing through Netflix one day and I was enthralled as I watched.

I would also recommend a great fiction movie about voice acting called In A World... directed and written by and starring Lake Bell.

Not that rare. Somebody just mentioned Keith David (who just guested on Scorpion). Most of his work is in front of the camera. I also submit Wendie Malick, Hank Azaria, Linda Cardellini as others who do copious voice and on camera work.

And just to add counterpoint to Clancy Brown (Lex Luthor), I offer Michael Ironside (Darkseid).

Here's another thing I found, for Scooby Doo fans.

Fascinating. So that's what Frank Welker looks like, and what he sounds like when he's being himself. I don't think I've ever seen an interview with him before. The one time I remember seeing him on camera was in an episode of that short-lived Jim Carrey sitcom Duck Factory from the '80s. That show was set at an animation studio and featured Don Messick as the studio's voice artist, and there was an episode where Messick's character quit and they were auditioning replacements, and Welker was the guy who got the gig. But he was wearing huge sunglasses so you couldn't really see his face clearly.

I always figured that Welker's natural voice would be pretty close to his Fred/Ray Stantz voice, and it's close to that, but not quite.
