Favorite Vic Fontaine Song

Did James Darren do any more CDs? I got two of the ones he did post DS9 and was wondering if he did more. I haven't seen any other ones.

Man it was hard to pick only three songs (I love pretty much all of them and listen to them quite often). Anyway, here they are:
- Here's to the Losers
- I'll Be Seeing You
- I've Got the World on a String

I dont like Crooner/loungelizard type jazz. It's far too smooth, ponderous and knowing for my taste.

However I did find myself smiling and singing along to the
"Best is Yet to Come", especially the last chorus with Darren and Brookes.

Wonderful duet, could tell that everyone had alot of fun filming that scene. I couldnt understand why Brookes was dancing out of time, then I realised. The music and singing had been rerecorded and dubbed over, lol

Does anyone else find the bigotry "you're just a hologram" against the selfaware hologram Fontaine, bloody offense coming from supposedly "enlightened" humans?

I was really annoyed in general with the whole "Vic Fontaine" and "Space Ranger" (whatever) and "Nick Danger PI" thing in the holodecks. ALL of their historical interests were in OUR distant history. Their concerts? Always Mozart. Their plays? Always Shakespeare.

NOT ONCE did they have anything seriously contemporary with us in THEIR history, or anything from OUR future (but their history). Where was the Beatles or Abba's music? Where were plays by Tom Stoppard or Ingmar Bergman, or some guy who hasn't even been born yet?

It was really annoying.

I remember reading that the TNG producers did this in an attempt to avoid another "way to eden"-like fiasco. The logic being that if shakespeare, mozart, etc. have lasted many decades already, there's no reason to believe they won't continue to last many decades. Obviously, the producers of Voy and DS9 loosened up a bit about this. In my opinion though, it didn't seem like a bad idea. The shows are going to become dated no matter what, so you might as well minimize the damage by using music that will never go completely out of style.
