So, since people seemed to enjoy it last time, I've seen some people I hadn't seen before post since it died, and it's been a while since the old thread died, I thought it might be fun to start another thread asking the denizens of TrekBBS what Starfleet uniform they most enjoy seeing our heroes gallivant around in.

I am still strongly of the opinion that the black/gray unis from First Contact onward are the best, but I very much like the revised TNG unis (esp. that cool gray uniform with the red jacket Picard wore starting in season 5) and the VOY/early DS9 ones.

I THINK I got 'em all this time around.

I like the Late DS9/FC-NEM uniforms the best.

You forgot the All Good Things/Endgame future uniforms. (Although I must say, those look a lot like the Kelvin era uniforms...)

Another vote for the FC-NEM/late DS9 unis. They just look the coolest, but they also still look functional/comfortable.

Other good ones include season 3-7 TNG, early DS9/Voyager, and the STIX Kelvin uniforms (and you're right, FinalFrontier... they DO look a little like the future ones, except the Kelvin unis don't suck. :rommie:)
Though I wasn't a fan of the show, ENT's uniforms were good, and very appropriate to the era.

The "general" STXI uniforms were pretty good, except for the fact that they kept the worst aspect of the original TOS unis: the stupid miniskirt for females. Actually... I think the uniform overall shows off even MORE skin than the TOS one. (I don't remember what the female unis on the Kelvin particularly looked like, come to think of it...)

The TWOK-TUC unis aren't bad overall, but they look ridiculous as a "duty uniform." Should've been a dress uni.

All those not mentioned range from "eh" to "awful".

I voted for TOS, because those uniforms just are Star Trek. The TWoK-TUC uniforms are the only ones that actually looked like uniforms anyone would actually design, although I do have a soft spot for the late TNG and late DS9 eras. And you forgot about the uniforms from earlier in the 24th century as seen in flashbacks and stuff. Kind of like the movie uniforms, but without collars.

TOS for me... I see you didn't include the Cage-style unis...? There must be someone out there who'd vote for 'em.

And, am I the only person in the universe who ranks the TWOK unis at the bottom rung of the ladder...? Sorry, but I never really liked 'em...

I'd merge TOS / ST11, but then I'm looking at the guys. ;)

@ SaitoS - agreed wrt the amount of skin the women were showing in TOS and ST11, but a fair few fanboys seem to be very much in favour despite it being horribly dysfunctional. The skirts are longer in ST11 but there were no bare arms in TOS. *shrug*

The saving grace was that some of the background women in ST11 were wearing trousers, much like the men's uniform.

I did not notice the Kelvin uniforms, so I voted for my other favorite: Late DS9/FC-NEM. As mentioned, they look more like a real uniform as opposed to a color television experiment (which is what TOS uniforms were).

Definitely the late DS9/FC/Nem uniforms for me too, much better than season 1 TNG uniforms in particular, by a mile.

VOY's. I don't know why, just always thought they looked the best, including the comm badges.

Never saw the appeal of the FC/late DS9 ones personally, they look thick and wooly to me.

Another vote for the FC-style uniforms. The use of black and gray as the primary colors is very sleek and professional looking, while the divisional colors were more of an accent (in the turtleneck and the thin stripe on the cuff).

I can't understand the love for the TWOK-TUC and the DS9/FC-NEM uniforms. They always looked uncomfortable and hot. TOS and STXI look simple and comfortable. ENT's seem practical and real. Even the DS9/VOY uniforms seem comfortable. TMP is a mix bag the pjs look silly but the short sleeved one Kirk and Sulu wore were nice. The early TNG uniforms seem to be a variation on TMPs only with brighter colors.

I voted for ENT, those were the only uniforms that didn't look like crap. As much as I like Trek, the one thing they never got right were the uniforms.

I chose the TWOK-TUC uniforms as a sentimental favorite, but the First Contact uniforms would be a REALLY close second.

ENT. Looked the most practical and real to me.

I agree, if we're giving this the real-life test, ENT by far. There are reasons that NASA astronauts wear almost exactly that sort of thing.

But where's Pike's uniform, from Trek XI, the black one? I loved that!

I understand that the TWOK-TUC uniforms look hot, but they also reminded me of pirate costumes and I enjoy the idea of Kirk and company buckling that swash! :bolian:

I would say 2278-2350 uniforms particularly because of their cool rank designs and medal things on the cuffs, made them ore decorative.

And also the FC Uniforms because of their sleek appearance.

The thing I didn't like about the other uniforms is that they're basically glorified pyjamas. And TNG could have started with FC looking uniforms as well and perhaps Command could have stayed in gold with it just being the tunic.

I second that. Love the red uniforms. Kinda reminds me a bit like class A,s in the military. I was a huge fan of Picard's swede jacket and the tunic under it and I think the late DS9 to Nem uniform represents that.

But...I did include them. In fact, it's gotten one vote. And I like the red unis alright, but they're too fancy for a duty uniform.

Covered in the STXI option since it's apparently the same uniform set as the red/gold/blue unis.
