I was fortunate enough to be a member of an audience in a cinema that saw TMP with the drydock inspection flyover of NCC-1701 Refit by Admiral Kirk and Scotty. We were all silent in awe.
I've seen it three times on the big screen. The first time when the film opened. The second time a couple of months later. And then later on an IMAX screen at Ontario Place.
The original Enterprise, No bloody A, B, C, D, E or J!
While it is less detailed it is the first ship that really spawned all the others. It's beautiful, a lovely piece of 60s sci-fi and it's retro.
The Refit I love almost as much but I imagine our possible future will use a deflector dish closer to the orginal rather than a blue glowing light. The original seems...functional.
The NX -01 I don't have much love for except for the fact that it was based on the Akira class which I adore.

Did I say "a couple"? I meant "a bunch."
Curious what you mean here... "the only one that matters?" And how is it "the most realistic?" They're all based on a similar (completely fictional) overall design aesthetic, which - like the vast majority of Trek ship designs (including all Starfleet designs) - is pretty much totally unconcerned with real-life realism.
