Favorite Trek Moments?

Of course, Spock's death scene in Wrath of Khan.

Picard's 'Ahab' scene with Lily in First Contact.

TNG third season's episode "Yesterday's Enterprise" during the final battle after Riker's death when the Klingons announce prepare to be boarded and Picard mutters "that will be the day" leaping over the console to take over tactical himself.

TNG third season's episode "The Defector" the stand off between Picard and Tomalak culminating with the Klingon bird's of Prey decloaking.

The little shipper-girl in me absolutely loves the scene where Robin Hood rescues Maid Marion from the tower in TNG fourth season episode "Qpid." Patrick Stewart's Picard doing Errol Flynn's Robin Hood. You hear the guards outside the door being dispatched just before Picard flings the heavy door aside. "Jean-Luc," Vash sighs as they make their way across the room to each other. In one hand Picard holds his bloodied broadsword while with his free hand he sweeps Vash up into his arms for a passionate kiss lifting her off the ground slightly. That is just classic swashbuckling! :adore: :luvlove:

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

You know, I have TNG season three, and I loved that episode as a kid, but I actually haven't watched it yet.

What in the holy hell is wrong with me, I don't know.

Good pick though.

There are so many I don't know where to start or end, so I'm sure I'll leave some out. Just off the top of my head:

Not sure of the name of the episode but in DS9 when Kira got with Shakaar and Odo was so torn up about it that he didn't do his duty properly. But the moment is when Quark goes to see Odo, and sees the shapshifter on the floor, hair out of place and his sculpture broken. Then he gives him advice. As well as being a good character moment between the two it is really good advice.

The funeral scene in TWOK - the line "of all the souls I have encountered in the galaxy his was the most...human" Shatner's delivery and the way he chokes up just before saying the last word brings a tear to me eye every time I think about it.

In TMP when we first see the Enterprise. Just beautiful.

In TCOTEOF when Kirk holds Bones back.

The "I need my pain" scene in TFF.

"Assimilate this" and when they see the Vulcan's in First Contact.

When Lal says her goodbye to Data.

When One says his goodbye to Seven "You are hurting me" "You will adapt".

When Rom and Quark crawl through the Jeffries tubes and come out in Sisko's office

TOS- Kirk's "Risk is our Business" speech. Figuring out the Horta isn't just an evil murdering monster. Kirk being one step behind in "Tribbles." Friday's Child:"I think you're both going to be insufferably pleased with yourselves for at least a month... sir." McCoy, Babel: "Well, what do ya know? I finally got the last word."

One final one- Kirk's first reaction to Diana Muldaur in "Return to Tomorrow." He turns to look at her, the music swells, he's all "who are you?" There...is a woman...on this ship...that I don't instantly recognize...dammit, why don't you keep me updated Bones! :guffaw:

TNG- Ship in A Bottle, Picard: "All this might just be an elaborate simulation running inside a little device sitting on someone's table."
"I am not a merry man." Troi as the drifter Durango in the Ancient West.
The reappearance of Sarek.

DS9- Accession- Sisko finally comes to terms with being the Emissary. Crossfire- Odo and Quark (as mentioned by the previous poster). Odo realizing Kira was guilty in "Necessary Evil." Garak: "Ah, but I got off several cutting remarks which no doubt did serious damage to their egos."

From ST:IV I think, Kelley's so dry "Oh, joy." (Actually everything Kelley does in the movies- he was good in TOS but just *shines* in the movies in my opinion.)

My mom calling the Chief Engineer- Scotty Montgomery.

Great pick. I forgot about that one. Sisko was hardly in that episode (I was kinda missing him) and that was such a perfect way to use him for an episode he's mostly absent from. It made his appearance the most memorable part of the episode despite his absence.

I agree wholeheartedly. I said the same thing when I reviewed "Star Trek II" and "Star Trek IV" in the movies forum. He had so many fun moments in "Star Trek II" and brought so much fantastic comic relief to that movie from his lying on the ground playfully after his 'performance' in the simulation, to his complaining about the 'damn elevator' and so on.

My earliest clear Trek memory: Kirk fighting the Gorn. I was sitting on the rug in the living room, on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It's a favorite because it was the first time I liked Trek. Before that, it was this annoying show I didn't understand that my Dad had the audacity to put on while there were cartoons on another channel. :)

My 5 favourite Trek moments, in chronological order:

1. Spock’s death scene in TWOK: “I have been, and always will be, your friend.” This and the funeral scene that follows it are two of the most moving scenes in the entire Trek catalogue.

2. Chekov’s rescue from the hospital in Star Trek IV. The hallway chase scene in the hospital is absolutely hillarious.

3. Picard’s torture scene in Chain of Command, Part II: “There. Are. Four. Lights!”. An absolutely brilliant reference to the torture scene in George Orwell’s 1984.

4. Riker in Frame of Mind: “You tell me what to eat, what to think, what to say; and when I show a glimmer of independent thought, you strap me down, inject me with drugs, and call it a treatment. I may be surrounded by insanity, but I am not insane. I AM NOT CRAZY!” – This whole episode is brilliant. It’s my favourite episode of any Trek series.

5. When Rom becomes the Grand Nagus and introduces labour rights and public health care. Quark's reaction is priceless. Plus I'm a socialist.

2. Chekov’s rescue from the hospital in Star Trek IV. The hallway chase scene in the hospital is absolutely hillarious.

This is another great one I don't see mentioned often! Even before the chase, I just love that moment when he opens his eyes, smiles, and says his (fantasy) rank. What Chekov goes through in that movie is why I said if McCoy is the unsung comic relief hero of "Star Trek II", Chekov performs that role beautifully in "The Voyage Home".

That Riker moment is great too, but I wouldn't call it brilliant. I like it more as a terrific moment of 'camp'...I enjoy it more on an ironic level, because it's so over-the-top that I can't take it seriously! :p

Reading the other posts, reminded me just how many classic and favorite scenes have been in Trek. A couple of my favorites is when Weyoun drinks the poison Kanar in front of Dukat and Sisko, the look on Dukats face speaks volumes, another is from TNG "Times Arrow" when Samuel Clemens first sees Worf and cries out "warewolf" great acting job, also in Voyager ep "Timeless" when Seven has a drink and gets a bit drunk, she is hanging all over the Doc and proclaims to all "We are as One" much to the amusment of Tom and Harry...

Too many to list, just a few favorite moments that come to mind:

  • In Peak Performance, Picard telling Kolrami "I told you he (Riker) was the best"; Data outplaying Kolrami in stratagema.
  • Worf's discommodation - and backhanding Duras for being the son of a traitor just before leaving the Chancellor's chambers.
  • Q's expression in Far Point, from watching the giant aliens to steeling himself for Picard.
  • Paris yelling at a meditating Tuvok on the rocks in Gravity.
  • Picard saying goodbye to the Tamarian captain at the end of the episode Darmok.
  • Epilogue to The Inner Light
  • Epilogue to The Perfect Mate
  • Odo telling Kira why he's not wearing the belt buckle
  • Kira helping the old man finish his kiln
  • Benny Russell seeing the DS9 drawing for the first time
  • Neelix's dramatic moments - Rise, Mortal Coil, Jetrel.
  • Paris coaching Janeway for the role Arachnia
  • Mike McKeon saying "Drat".

Repeating myself: too many to choose...
but...
Worf to Picard in First Contact : "If you were any other man i would KILL you where you stand!"

Worf to Picard in Insurrection: "Definitely feeling agressive tendencies sir!"
(how could anyone NOT love Worf? He has such great lines)

Kirk to his people in Undiscovered Country: "You will let me know if there is any other way we can screw this up" (i think i am paraphrasing that one)

Let's see, I've got lots of favorite Trek moments..but a few stick out as the best!

In TMP, where Kirk sees the Enterprise for the first time in a long while-the musical scoring as well as the shuttlecraft flying is just fantastic..and then you see the front few of the Enterprise and I literally burst into tears..it literally takes my breath away!

In STV, were Kirk, Spock and McCoy are sitting around a campfire singing "Row, row, row your boat"- the dialogue just kills me!

In ST:TVH where Kirk and party land in San Francisco and the car almost rams Kirk..the dialogue goes something like this: "Hey why don't you watch where you're going, you dumb ass!" ... "Well, double dumbass on you!!!" :guffaw:

In ST:TUC, the very last scene really has me in tears!

ST: Generations, when the Enterprise D crash lands on that planet..Data's exact words and I quote: "ohhhh, shit!" :guffaw: He was the biggest dork and the funniest character throughout the whole entire movie!

Star Trek TOS: The fight between the Klingons and the Enterprise crew in the episode "The Trouble with Tribbles"..absolutely hilarious! And those tribbles! MY GOD! Kirk was up to his neck in those sons of bitches!

Star Trek: Next Gen: the episode about Picard getting assimilated by the Borg had me in shock for days.

Star Trek: DS9: I adored the ep about the Maquis-great storyline!

Star Trek: Voy: The Doc, nuff said! All the episodes he was in were funny.
