Favorite Time Travel Episodes...

For TNG, I would have to go with "Yesterdays Enterprise". Capt Rachel Garrett commanding the Enterprise-C got thrown from the proper timeline which was in 2344 and got thrown into 2366 and away from a battle they were involved in defending a Klingon outpost against a Romulan attack.

Upon appearing in 2366 they find out that the Federation is losing a war against the Klingons, and that had they now been thrown from the proper timeline, this war would never had existed. Capt Garrett is killed in this battle, and the crew realizing that the only way to restore the timeline is to go back to 2344 and to a certain death.

The First Officer LT Castillo takes command, and Enterprise-D Officer Tasha Yar volunteers to go back to help, knowing full well this is a suicide mission. This is Star Trek at it's best...

My favorite would be Yesterday's Enterprise, Time's Arrows and All Good Things...

Those are my most favorite and also like Parrallels too

I agree Yesterday's Enterprise is the best TNG time travel story. I also like Parallels, although that's really a parallel universe story; . . . All Good Things, because of how they recreated the E-D's starting point; Cause & Effect; and Time Squared, the odd ep where a Picard from six hours in the future winds up on the ship. Not too crazy about Time's Arrow, though, despite the fact that the Mark Twain and Jack London cameos are fun. -- RR

The Inner Light

Hey, it was time travel, in a sense.

In terms of real time travel, probably Yesterday's Enterprise.

Yes, you could say The Inner Light was a kind of time travel ep. So are all the holodeck eps that take place in different times, like The Big Goodbye. Interesting!

Here's a thought I had about time travel in the 24th century. It seems that there is a board that governs time travel incursions, as we saw from DSN ep Trials & Tribbleations. Are there sanctioned time travel trips?

I ask because as I recall, in TOS there was at least one ep where Enterprise traveled back in time on purpose, Assignment: Earth. I wonder if there are any other regular observational missions like that in the 24th century, or if after Enterprise's multiple time incursions, they put a stop to it.

Can't go wrong with Yesterday's Enterprise. I think I enjoyed Cause and Effect a little more, and Inner Light blew me away on first viewing.

My favorite is Yesterday's Enterprise with Cause and Effect coming in a close second. Timescape (while not a pure time travel episode) ties Cause and Effect as my second favorite.

I'm assuming they did. All because of Kirk. "The man was a menace" :p

On the topic of time travel episodes though, I'll be completely original and choose Yesterday's Enterprise and Cause & Effect, but I can't elevate one above the other...

Its hard to argue with Yesterday's Enterprise... just an outstanding premise and brilliantly executed.

But my favorite TNG has to be Cause and Effect. First, the opening was brilliant and a real "WTF". And second, it plays out extraordinarily well. But to add to the episode: some of you know that i collect some of the original Star Trek models and paraphernalia... i have both the exploding warp nacelle and the main shuttle bay door from that episode. Companion pieces so to speak.

Sadly, could not acquire the Enterprise C...

Yesterday's Enterprise is my favorite time travel episode... though they actually aren't travelling through time. I also like the episode where Picard doesn't lose his heart in a fight with the Nausicans and we see him after he graduates from the Academy. For some reason I can't think of the title of the episode right now...

My all time favorite is "Yesterday's Enterprise" because it has one of my favorite Picard moments in it. When the Klingons announce "Surrender and prepare to be boarded." Picard mutters, "That will be the day" and proceeds to jump over the console to take over the tactical position himself.
Too cool!

My second favorite is "Parallels" simply because as a fanfic writer the use of the theory of the 'Sum over histories' has provided me with a great deal of fodder for stories.;)

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

While "Yesterday's Enterprise" is cool I'm still a bigger fan of City on the Edge of Forever and Trials and Tribbilations. I also think the Year of Hell VOY is great.

The less said of Time's Arrow, the better.
