Favorite Ship

Hmm... these "favorite ship" threads seems to just crop up every now and again. But no matter; I am ready with pics!

The TOS Enterprise and the original Klingon cruiser. Simple, clean, classic and perfect.

To me, the Excelsior looks like a dachshund and the Enterprise-E (Sovereign-class) looks like a Connie that got stepped on. It also has way too much fussy detail.

I disagree strongly (on both your likes and dislikes), but I have to give you credit on the part in bold. Made me lol.

As for myself (these are all tied; I can't pick just one!):

(Also non-canon) Eximius - I STILL wish someone would make a nice, high-quality render (along the lines of rest of my pics above) of this class... but shots from the game it came from (Bridge Commander) will have to do.

Most of those are nice, but the Akira just doesn't do it for me. When viewed from below or the front it looks weird.

My favourite would be between the Enterprise E and Voyager. I hated Voyager at first for it's spoon shape and baby nacelles, but it's grown on me as a sleek ship with a lot of detail. It has some dud angles, but many Trek ships do (such as the D), but from the right angle it is an amazing ship.

Least favourite would be the Excelsior.

My favourite starship design would be the Akira class.

My favourite non-Starfleet design is the Vulcan D'Kyr type from ENT. It might sound odd but I like it because it reminds me of Mon Calamari designed starships from Star Wars, which rate amongst my favourites from that franchise.

The Ambassador design is beautiful, my favorite hands down. I also love the Defiant just for it's bad-assery.

I couldn't disagree more strongly.The TOS Enterprise still looks beautiful, graceful and majestic 47 years after it was created. Part of the reason is that it incorporates classical proportions into its design.

My favorite is the Enterprise-D. Its smooth lines and bold, powerful proportions showed a ship that was sleek, and an instrument of exploration, but tough and powerful enough to take on the best.

IMHO, if the Enterprise-D weren't covered with hundreds of tiny windows, you wouldn't even know it was supposed to be a space vessel. It could just as well be an abstract sculpture or a piece of alien furniture.
