Favorite Sequence (Not Favorite Film)?

What a nice thread to read.

I love all those scenes/sequences mentioned, and if this continue for long, we risk including all the saga.

The sequence in III of the stealing of the Enterprise is really thrilling, but I very much like the sequence before of the arrival at the Space Station (right after the Klingons scene and before the Admiral inspection).

Also, this thread should include your most-hated sequences.

Lemme think: some or all sfx scenes from V, and Spock's out-of-character "go to hell" in VI. Perhaps I hate most the Klingon-speaking-while-fumbling-with-books scene in VI, tied with the phaser shooting in the kitchen, yeh, those two were ridiculous.

maybe we should define sequence vs scene, because a lot of what is coming up is just a shot or a scene, not a sustained sequence. When I hear sequence, I think set-piece, like a boat chase or any PTS in a Bond movie, where it is actually a number of scenes that make up a little whole in itself. If you apply that to TREK flicks, it limits things a bit.

I absolutely love the shot of the Enterprise from above approaching space dock in ST3 too, great music that builds to the first reveal of the big mushroom, and the Excelsior, great scene.

TSFS introduced so much to the franchise, I think it's a very under appreciated movie

It's hard to come up with something new when everyone else already listed a ton of good parts :)

I'll add:

TUC:
-During the major ship battle, there's a scene of a couple nameless crew running away from a rapidly exploding corridor, the whole ship shakes, the music reaches its top, chaos all around, and a quick shot of Chang spinning in his chair with evil, EVIL delight, spouting Shakespeare, of course.

Gen:
-Picard crying to Troi sometimes gets maligned, but I think that's a bit unfair given the context.
-Also, I remember at that time all the buzz that was given to Picard and Data's scene in Astrometrics. Odd that we don't see a room of that graphic quality in any future TNG movies!

FC:
-Troi's drunk scene, for sure.

XI and XII:
-Really, any non-action scene involving Pine and/or Urban. It really makes me appreciate Shatner and Kelley, but not to the detriment of Pine and Urban. I think the latter two do a very fine job of paying homage to the former two, and it's important to remember who came first and who blazed the trail, too. Pine and Urban aren't doing impressions, they're acting as two particular people from a particular time. Urban keeps Kelley's memory alive for me.

It's got to be the scene near the end of XI where the Enterprise warps into the battle and starts firing everything at that ship. I still cheer.

^That's one of my favorites in the JJ-verse. The music and the timing is perfect!

One of my absolute favorites, hands down, from the Prime Universe is when the gang steals the Enterprise!

One not mentioned yet that I always liked is the wormhole sequence in TMP.

Forgot about that one, great scene. In fact I love all the going to warp scenes in TMP - I like how they make a big deal of it, like the flyby, and that going to warp is a major thing and a strain on the ship.

One of the things TMP got absolutely spot on was the fact that the Enterprise is one of the main characters.

TMP - The first time we see the Enterprise.

TWOK - The battle of the mutara nebula. My favorite music cue is when the Enterprise prepares for battle and the shot of it leaving orbit

TSFS - stealing the Enterprise, as others mentioned also the destruct sequence as kirk looks to the sky and sees the Enterprise's destruction My God Bones what have I done...

TVH - the bus ride, so screw you!

TFF - the opening music cue with Kirk climbing the mountain, also the assault on the base

TUC - the assassination

Gen - Kirk riding on the horse and then meeting up with Picard

FC - The Phoenix gets eclipsed by the Enterprise another great music cue

Ins - the time stopping moment between Picard and Anij, the music cue makes that scene

Nem - The last scene with Picard

09 - Kirk and McCoy meeting on the shuttle to Starfleet

ID - The scene between Kirk and Khan in the brig and right into the reveal of new mysterious Starship, love the music cue for that sequence. I also like the opening sequence. One cool thing we never saw in any trek is when the Enterprise gets hit the interior decks just getting vaporized

Yeah, the over the saucer shot of it going to warp is cool, and the scene at the end of the film is one of my all time favorites. Even the reveal of Enterprise coming out of the V'ger "explosion is a cool shot

"Here it comes.......Now, Mr. Spock."
"Sir....our shields are dropping!"
"RAISE THEM!"
"I CAN'T!"

Pure awesomeness. Thank you Nicholas Meyer for doing over a dozen takes until you got Shatner to stop Shatnering.

TMP: Many wonderful sequences. The opening Klingon attack and accompanying music is probably tied with the reveal of the new Enterprise.

TWOK: The sneak attack on the Enterprise is one of the best build-ups and tense action sequences in the franchise.

TSFS: everyone nailed it: the entire stealing the Enterprise sequence tied with the Enterprise falling out of orbit.

TFF: The secret pains sequence, with the glow of the Barrier looming closer and closer through the windows. Awesome.

TUC: the assassination on Gorkon

GEN: crash of the saucer

FC: Picard and Lilly in the observation room

NEM: Picard saying farewell to Riker

Star Trek: the Kelvin sequence. One of the best in the franchise

STID: The arrival of the USS Vengeance, and the Vengeance attacking during warp drive
