Favorite Season One Episodes

I like the actor and the character of Phlox, but every time I see him now that I have seen Dear Doctor I think of what he did in that episode and it makes me have the heebie jeebies.

Wait until you see Similitude.

I'll have to agree with Mach5, I don't dislike the character because the writers didn't understand what they were writing about. Yeah, he allowed a whole civilisation die a needless death, but according to the episode this was the scientifically correct thing to do. I dislike the episode because of what happened, but I don't blame the character or the actor for a shoddy script that should have been rejected by their science consultant.

Broken Bow - Great Pilot
Unexpected - just plain funny
Breaking the Ice - Excellent Trip & T'Pol episode
Shadows of P'Jem - More Vulcan / Andorian intrigue

Shuttlepod One - Two guys, one pod, all character driven. Can't complain.
Silent Enemy - Enterprise continues to be outgunned, outclassed and outsmarted by the more streetwise kids on the block. Something we rarely see in the Trek universe.
Cold Front - when I still thought the TCW had promise
Fallen Hero - I thought they captured a great sense of tension by slowly pushing the engines to capacity and the danger involved without really overplaying it.
Fortunate Son - Just purely because Mayweather got some well deserved focus, and we saw life outside Starfleet.
Detained - Some decent Suliban development and some more from Mayweather.

Strange New World, Fusion and Unexpected. The rest were rather forgettable.

It depends on what you like about the show. The first two seasons were trying to be their own show, the third season was a year-long arc about finding a weapon that will be used to destroy Earth, and season four is a TOS prequel series.

I thought season 1 was a good start to the show, especially compared to the other ST series. I thought season 2 dropped the ball right from the start, but they managed to get much better by the end of the season with some very good episodes. I loved season 3 because it was serialised and it explored some really dark issues. Season 4 is the popular favourite; it didn't meet my expectations but it was pretty good. So for me:

3 > 4 > 1 > 2

^ I'd pretty much agree with that, though my ranking would be 3 - 1 - 4 - 2.

The first season really captured that feeling they were going for that the humans were new to space, then quickly forgot about it towards the end of the season, but it wa refreshing while it lasted.

Season four to me felt like there were too many winks and nods being made to the fans in an attempt to marry it up with TOS. Then again, it did have a lot of ground to cover after season two's hit and miss approach, and the year out for season three. Also, I wasn't overly keen on the mini-arcs format - I would've preferred something more akin to DS9 with standalone episodes, but recurring themes running through the season. Though I won't argue that Demons and Terra Prime was some of the best Enterprise we were given. (Plus, y'know, they went overboard with those flashing LEDs all over the bridge )

I liked season 4 best, followed by 3, then 1 and lastly 2. Season 2 was better the second time after I got to know the characters better.

I would say you are in for some letdown during season 2, but stick with it because things do get better in seasons 3 and 4.

Precious Cargo.

Season two had a very long stretch of boring or forgettable episodes, some of which were just rehashes of Voyager episodes (which were themselves rehashes of TNG episodes). After Dead Stop and until Cogenitor there isn't anything which I would consider to be a great episode. The episodes are mostly watchable, and some of them are enjoyable, but I would say that there is more bad episodes in that stretch than good ones.

But I am serious about my warning on Precious Cargo. You will probably need a shower after watching it.

Most people around here do seem to rank Season 3 & 4 as the best, but personally I prefer the first 2 seasons. My main problem with Season 2 was that it didn't follow up on some of the things they seemed to be setting up in Season 1 (the Tandaran/Suliban situation), but I enjoyed the stories we did get, even if others didn't.

my fav :

unexpected : the first part with the alien was boring, but funny when trip is pregnant.

shuttlepode one : good acting, with a lot of humor. the drunk scene was hilarious.

breaking the ice : the beginning of the relationship between trip and t'pol. the scene with archer and the crew explaining the work on the ship to children is very funny.

strange new world : i liked the acting job of blalock and trinneer, very well done.

broken bow : of course, how don't like it
