I've never been able to understand people who pick anything other than TPM. Each progressive prequel has worse acting, more tension-free direction, and a less clear story than the one before it.

TPM has Liam Neeson, and Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, and Ian McDiarmid are all still trying. And say whatever you like about Jake Lloyd, but runs rings around Hayden Christensen.

I'll say this much. In some ways I like his Anakin a lot more than I do Hayden's, and Jake Lloyd has gotten far too much crap from fans over the past sixteen years about his role and about Episode I. He hasn't deserved any of that bile.

My favorite is Revenge of the Sith. But it's closer than you might think. I think AoTC didn't handle the material in that film correctly (it dragged when it should have been faster paced) but the material made for what could have been the most interesting Star Wars story, as we learn a bit about how things happened with the early stormtroopers.

AotC replaced the cringe-worthy comedy with Jar-Jar in TPM with cringe-worthy comedy with Threepio. Still cringe-worthy, sure, But a definite improvement, at least in that department.

Revenge of the Sith, because it is the rise of Darth Vader, and has the best lightsaber duel....evahhhhh!!!!

Followed by Attack of the Clones for its epic battle scenes, and establishing once and for all that Natalie Portman has the cutest little butt in all of the universe! :D

in terms of acting, the original Star Wars did not have as good a performance as Ian McDiarmid's in RotS.

Really? Don't you think when Palpatine turned into the Emperor, after dispatching Mace Windu--he turns into a cartoon character??

All that rediculous cackling. The almost lampooning of his RTOJ performance.

I think John Williams' score & the FX mask a very cartoony performance- particularly the Yoda duel.

It was ridiculous--he was doing the "i'm SOOO evil heh heh heh heh!!" act, and again, it made cartoon villains are more realistic.

What's worse were the painfully orchestrated lightsaber duels--you could almost see the actors counting their every swing before a strike. They were just lifeless.

...and Kenobi's "I have the high ground" warning to Anakin? What th--? That's no end-all position. In face, Maul also had the high ground over Kenobi in TPM, but that did not help him. No...he just stood there, slowly watched him fly out of the pit and wait to be cut in half. Whatever.

TFA has much to make audiences forget.

I'm gonna pick AoTC for the same reason as ESB: Favorite land-battle scenes of the trilogy.

And ...YODA VERSUS DOOKU! Yoda versus anybody five times his size would be epic, but the little bugger won this one!

I'm not going to get too deep on the whole "better acting" argument. I watch Star Wars for the wars the way I watch Star Trek for the trek.

I don't think it was a cartoon character, but it was over the top, which I loved. His performance in the first half is excellent and you can see him slowly revealing himself to Anakin. McDiarmid's performance in the scene when he tells Anakin he is a Sith Lord is the best piece of acting in the entire saga.

Then, yeah, he essentially becomes the devil. He no longer has to hide himself, his face has been scarred, so he gives into his insanity completely.

And the speech to the Senate? Awesome. I love how he starts to raise his hands at the end of it in some sort of bizarre religious move. It's great.

I mean, the villain of the OT is a heavy breathing dude in an all black robot suit. I don't expect Star Wars' villains to be all quiet and subtle.

Palpatine's arc is basically Richard the Third's if Richard gave into his insanity at the end of the play in a joyous fashion.

I really like TPM. I genuinely enjoy watching it. But ROTS is definitely my favorite. It cen be very emotional, too. The Order 66 sequence, for example. But there's also Obi-Wan's "I'm so sorry" line. It's a small moment, but it carries such weight.

Williams' score certainly helps in the department, too.

I am aware of these movies, and the events portrayed, but have no interest in ever watching them again. At least TPM feels like a complete movie, so (with some hesitation) I suppose I'd give it to that turd, but favorite isn't the word I would use.

ROTS. It's the best of a bad bunch and seems like George was finally pulling up his pants with this movie. Felt like the time wasting was over and we were getting on with the story. Too violent for younger viewers though.
