Okay, so the vast, vast majority of you went with ESB as your favorite movie. What's your favorite Prequel movie?

ROTS is my favorite SW movie period. It's amazing. :techman:

I'm a Prequel Lover, I think they all have amazing bits within them (and yes, some horrible bits as well in the dialogue and acting).

I voted Revenge of the Sith. Its the only Prequel I'd say is good, and even then it has some big flaws and its not as good as any of the Original Trilogy.

Phantom Menace for me. It's the one that had the most creative freedom; once it laid down the marker for where the story began, it was a matter of joining up the dots to reach the Original Trilogy.

Conversely, Sith is one of the worst films I've ever seen because it never does anything unexpected. It's two and a half hours of anti-climax.

I can't pick. I've never been able to finish watching any of them.

Revenge of the Sith, but I actually would like to revisit the Prequel trilogy (And probably the whole thing) before TFA comes out.

Revenge of the Sith, followed by The Phantom Menace.

Attack of the Clones has been my least-favorite Prequel for years now and will probably remain that way short of a new edit of the film that adds deleted scenes that I felt should have been included in the film in the first place.

AOTC, dubbed in a language I don't speak, so I can ignore the dialogue and enjoy the visuals (of one of the actors in particular, and the scenery in general) and the music/sound effects.

At the time, I would have said ROTS was clearly the best, but after recently rewatching them, I think it might actually be Phantom. The story isn't nearly as cluttered and plot-heavy as the others, and it's got the best villain in Darth Maul.

Of course it probably doesn't help that by the time I finally get to the third movie nowadays, I have a hard time even caring about the story anymore. Lol

Sith definitely. I'd been waiting for decades to see that final battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin and I have to say the movie delivered the goods at last.

OP: Its proably easier to ask "which prequel has the least amount of problems," since the problems always take center stage when thinking of that series.

Even the dreaded Star Wars Holiday Special inspires more warm feelings than the prequels.

Does "can't pick" mean because they're all equally awful?

Cos that would be my choice.

Revenge of the Sith. It's Lucas' best Star Wars film. Empire Strikes Back beats it, although it's not Lucas directed. In terms of emotional depth, direction, and style, RotS is the best Lucas film. Even in terms of acting, the original Star Wars did not have as good a performance as Ian McDiarmid's in RotS.

The Phantom Menace, because I find it still at least a little fresh. And I found the Anakin and Padme scenes in episodes II and III to be far harder to watch than the Jar Jar stuff in TPM. I'll never forget how disappointed I was when I walked out of AOtC.

To each his own, but McDiarmid's "acting" in ROTS makes cartoon villains like Skeletor or Destro (bad as they were) seem realistic and adult. He was too consciously trying to be sinister, and that's exactly when a performance cannot sell it.

Just watching TOM right now.
It's allright, but the CGI has not aged well. The Clone Wars Series seems much more convincing at times.

I love all the prequel films, but SITH is my favorite of that trilogy - for me personally, it has the most emotional resonance, with amazing action sequences and such a foreboding sense of the galaxy metaphorically entering a dark tunnel that it might never emerge from. I loved seeing Palpantine's machinations come to full fruition and at the same time as the Republic is corrupted from the inside out, Anakin's fall mirrors this.

Favorite Prequel movie? That's kind of like asking someone what their favorite strain of hemorrhagic fever is, for god's sake.

(Ebola Marburg, if you must know)
