Favorite Invasion of the Body Snatchers film?

I think I've seen three, and I didn't really like any of them.

The 1956 one was the best though...

I like the 56 version. I was never crazy about the 78 version when I was younger but it's been growing on me a lot in subsequent viewings. Not sure between those two.

Saw the 93 version recently which has two things going for it: a very young Gabrielle Anwar getting naked and Meg Tilly's memorable verbal confontation when her husband finds out the truth.

I saw The Invasion but don't remember anything from it, probably not a good sign.

The more I think about it, the '93 version might be my second favorite. It's the furthest removed from the original in terms of the characters, setting and story progression, and I like that it's a very different take on the same basic idea. The ending is my favorite part, it kind of comes out of nowhere and isn't at all like how previous versions ended... which is why I think it's rather neat.

Apparently Roger Ebert thought it was the best of the bunch. I definitely wouldn't go that far, but if I had to choose one of the remakes, I'd probably go with that one.

The '56 and '78 films are, in a lot of ways, almost too different from each other to compare them. They are both very deeply disturbing films, albeit in very different ways. I think they're both great. Never saw the '93 version, and I won't even dignify the Nicole Kidman version.
