I can't really say... I like all of them... but I am probably most used to the Galactic Civil War because the main characters from 4, 5, and 6 were EXCELLENT!!!! #GoLukeSkywalker He's my favorite character.

*Rise of the Empire era-
Episode 1-3 novelizations, Cloak of Deception, Shatterpoint, Labyrinth of Evil, Kenobi, Rise of Vader, etc. These I think are the best written books of all, and the most interesting to me!
Favorite Authors:
James Luceno, Matthew Stover, John Jackson Miller for Kenobi.

*New Republic-
Visions of the Future, X-Wing, some of the Vong books like Rebel Dream, Onslaught, or Vector Prime. I like most of the Zahn books like the one above, Heir to the Empire, Dark Forces Rising, and Survivor's Quest.
I did NOT like the Swarm War trilogy.

*Legacy Era-
Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi. I love the format here. Well done!

Favorite Post Rotj authors:
Aaron Aalston(RIP 2014), Michael Stackpole. I think these two are easily the most talented. I like Zahn too. I realize all these authors wrote in both eras, but these are the eras they were invested in the most.

Most of these books were NYTimes bestsellers and many are still sold in (physical)bookstores today!

New Canon books-
I liked A New Dawn. I also read Lost Stars, Dark Disciple, the first two Aftermath books, Heir to the Jedi(but didn't finish), Tarkin(Read the first few chapters and last few chapters), and Bloodlines(about half)

I also read The Force Awakens novelization, but it was basically word for word identical to the movie. It was okay.

Besides A New Dawn, and Heir to the Jedi, didn't much care for the rest. Tarkin was very tedious for a Luceno book. It had a similar construct to Darth Plagues, but the former is the superior(imo). Dark Disciple was aggravating although I was engaged. Lost Stars was decent.

The two Aftermath books and Bloodlines were just awful awful awful. I don't mean to be a whiner, but Bloodlines was the last SW novel I ever touched, and that was a while ago. I haven't read anything since.

If you liked Zahns Legends books you'll probably like Thrawn.

Thrawn is an okay character I think. I liked him in the Outbound Flight book which is a prequel to the rest, and he hasn't yet joined the Empire, (and isn't even called Thrawn yet. It's something like 'Mith'rawn'naruedo. He's not as ruthless, all-knowing, or arrogant in that book.
