Favorite "creepy" episode

It's Star Trek, so...no. Not really.

Among the hundreds of ST episodes, there isn't a single instance of any major character doing something like that. Plus she never said that that is what she did. One would think that if Beverly had done something like that she would have at least be a bit surprised to still be alive. We know what a Romulan disruptor does to a body. It disintegrates it. In fact, Beverly was beginning to disintegrate when we saw her.

I can't tell if you're being serious. Stepping in between someone with a weapon and their would-be victim is standard for any Star Trek hero. Thinking about what the effect of whatever specific type of weapon is not part of the equation. Defending the innocent is.

I was speaking thematically. In the context of a show that has, as one if its main driving themes, understanding and co-operation among a multitude of species, a mamber of one such species risking their well-being to protect that of a member of another such species isn't 'extreme' at all.

Risking your well-being is one thing, suicide is quite another. Plus it wouldn't have saved the alien for long, once Beverly was disintegrated which would have taken about two seconds, the next shot would have hit the alien.

If Beverly stepped in the way, shielding the alien, the idea is that the Romulan will hold his fire. It's not suicide. This happens all the time.

Why would all Romulan weapons always disintegrate people all the time. Troi comments on Beverly's near certain death due to the weapon being at "point blank range."

Night Terrors still makes the hair on my arms stand straight up...so gotta go with that one.

Conspiracy was really impactful at the time it aired. Such a huge departure from anything the franchise had done before. Loved it for that

Frame of Mind was just disturbing and kept the audience off-balance

About Beverly, Romulan disruptor and alien in 'Timescape'.

Perhaps Beverly didn't walk into the line of fire, just tried to shove the weapon out of the Romulan's hand, failed and got in the way.
Or thought that the Romulan wouldn't fire if she got in the way.
Who knows, we don't know how that situation started.

Didn't Pike do almost exactly that in "New Eden?"

Don't get me started. At the very least Pike's remains should have been splattered all over the place. This scene and many others make no sense whatsoever. During my time in the army, the bullets we fired could go through two feet and a half of hardwood. A human body would only slow them down but not stop them. Same thing for a grenade. If someone threw himself on a grenade the people around him would still be hit by shrapnel.

Isn't it possible though, that Starfleet energy weapons are designed specifically to eliminate the threat of potential collateral damage in a fire fight?

After all, these are phasers, not high-powered rifles.

I think if Kira had had the opportunity she would have taken the knife for Marritza at the end of "Duet". Probably not intending to die. Hell, while it would have snuffed out a character with much greatness to come, just imagine if DS9 had pushed the envelope as far as having its Bajoran first officer sacrifice herself to save a Cardassian going into the end of the first season?

Going back to creepy though, my favorite quietly creepy moment may be when Picard and Data are returning to the E-D in "Genesis" only to find it adrift. Given the level of information we have to that point, you just know things have gone horribly wrong when you see the hero ship slowly spinning through space.

Hell, I wish TPTB had been able to do that for every situation where Our Heroes were boarding a Condition: Unclear ship.

No one has mentioned Remember Me yet. I loved that when I was young. Upon rewatching, I would say it's not quite as good as I remembered, but still a very good episode.
