I wonder about the timing on that floor effect of the light shorting out behind him - how many takes did they do, to get what they wanted?

What happens to Astrid is, unfortunately, the beginning of the Doctor's deepening troubles with hubris throughout his remaining days.

Never really liked Donna, so "Runaway Bride" doesn't do it for me.

A Christmas Carol

Washed all the bad tastes of RTD's Christmas specials. The Doctor got to eat Christmas dinner without twisting his arm or uttering a line

"Nope, I don't do that sort of thing"

Modern London was finally spared this Christmas.

I guess Runaway Bride would be my second favorite.

Yeah the sparks when he says Time Lord must've taken a few takes to get right. I would argue that losing Rose is what triggers his dark side...Astrid just bolstered that feeling and made Donna all that more importance.

Oh lordy, that clip Dennis. Never before have I wanted to slap 10 so much.

The Christmas Invasion and A Christmas Carol are the only 2 specials I've seen in full, and while the former isn't bad, and the latter is by no means perfect, I'd rate Carol the much better ep.

I loved him in that clip - absolutely adored the whole sequence.

Maybe "Adventures In Time And Space With Kazrin and Abigail" would suit you better.

Eh, maybe I'm missing something in context. Tennant's growly voice and Kylie swooning just kills me though.

^ That quote was brilliant. Astrid's reaction to it is awesome. I would have liked to have seen her travel with the Doctor just once. I think she would have been an excellent companion.
I'd like to think that in the tenth Doctor's "death lap" at the end of "The End of Time," the Doctor went to Stowe before the Titanic sailed and saw Astrid board the ship.

Personally, though, I think Astrid's still alive. That her transport bracelet worked as it was supposed to (you see the telltale blue flash as she falls into the reactor core) and it dumped her somewhere, say the middle of London. That the reason the Doctor's efforts to rescue her didn't work was because there was only the echo of a successful transport in the buffers, so naturally there wasn't enough material to work with.

But that's just me. :)

I still want to see a Christmas Special where he spends the whole hour running around frantically defeating one threat after another, just so Londoners can have a peaceful Christmas for a change. :)
