EDIT: I messed up the poll! The second "Diane Chambers" was meant to be Rebecca Howe.

Feeling incredibly nostalgic, about things that were around when I was a child that I didn't even bother with, I've started watching and collecting Cheers on DVD. A show I only mostly watched the last few seasons of and saw mostly in second-run syndication.

So, who's your favorite Cheers character?

Tough call between Coach and Frasier... I went with Frasier just because the character managed to make it 20 years and his pomposity continued to make me laugh.

I voted for the Coach, but might have gone with Al if I had the option!

One of my favorite shows, I can still remember watching the premiere episode. They were all great characters.

PS Rebecca didn't make the poll?!

I went with Cliff.

I should point out this is Cheer's Frasier, as Frasier's Frasier was a much different chracter and outside of the scope of this specific series.

Though in hindsight, I should've had "Paul" on the list as he was a semi-regular secondary character.

Aw crap!

I have Diane on there twice. One of them was probably meant to be Rebecca.

Er, we'll call the second Diane, Rebecca.

Then too there was Kelly, she was pretty much a regular for a while.

That was one thing I always liked about "Cheers," it had so many strong secondary characters, even if they only had a line or two. Nick and Loretta, Eddie, Harry the Hat, Andy Andy, Al, Phil, Evan Drake, Robin Colcord, Corinne, Gary, John Alan Hill, and probably more I'm forgetting.

Cliff, the wingnut that holds the universe together!

The original concept was Clavinless, and Ratzenburger came in to read for the part of Norm. During his audition he said it didn't feel right. He then asked if they had a part for a bar know-it-all.

"What do you mean?" the producers asked. Ratzenburger then ad-libbed his way into the show. :)

Coach was great.

"Table for the Blubberbutts!"

Here are some Coach scenes

I just saw the "Blubberbutts" scene on an episode I watched.

And yeah, Ratzenberger is awesome and his improvising his way onto the show is golden and why I picked Cliff as my favorite.

You just got love a know-it-all man who takes his postal job way more seriously than he should.

Norm, of course.

The Patron Character of Accountants everywhere - what all of us accountants aspire to: sitting around drinking beer and doing a whole lot of nothing.

Norm.

Pretty sure I've seen every episode of the series, since I've been watchin' the show since I was a kid, and while I liked all of the characters, lookin' over the list, I like the characters "coupled." Not romantically, but the way they would interact - Carla & Diane, Sam & Woody, Frasier & Lillith...but Norm was really the only one who could be by himself and be entertainin'. He was the linchpin of the whole bar! That stool held the weight of the world, man!

Norm, of course.

I watched one the other day where Norm holds the company party at Cheers -a Toga party- and he's the only one to show up in a Toga, all of the other accountants are boring and lifeless no matter what Norm tries to do to liven things up.

I was gonna vote Frasier, but his character as it appears on Cheers is not really the same character as Frasier from his own sitcom, so I voted Cliff.

Yeah, Seattle and getting rid of Lilith really changed old Frasier.
