Farscape sequel movie in the works!?

It's a big universe. John Crichton's Wormhole story might be over, but there are plenty of stories to be told.
 
I'd love to see a continuation and hope something comes of this. Farscape will always hold a very special place in my heart. As far as televised science fiction goes, I have never seen its equal.

Honestly, I feel the Nebari virus story would be a perfect one to pick up 20 years later.

I like Justin Monjo's stuff overall on the show. One of the top 3 writers. In fact only Taking the Stone is outright dreadful, with the What Was Lost two parter being more of a mess than, bad.

But, for me, the heart of the show was always David Kemper. If he's not on board, then my enthusiasm is dampened somewhat. From everything I've read and seen, it was him who drove the show to be bigger, be bolder, and feel more emotionally real than most people could have hoped for. It meant, at times, that they failed spectacularly, but his constant push for real emotion and honest-to-gods galactic stakes, made the show so dear to me.

Still, can't rule out Monjo having learnt at the masters feet, so this is a fun idea to frolic with on a wet February day.

And how come people aren't also excited about the fact that the same article (I read, anyways) stating that Monjo is in the midst of developing a SF/F show for HBO, The Beasts of Valhalla with Tyrion bloody Lannister named as a star.... based on George C Chesbro's SFF/detective fiction.

Double whammy of WTF!!


Hugo - What is it with Peacekeepers. First they hunt us, then they want to move in. Are we a bed and breakfast. Do we have a sign outside that says "Free HBO?"
 
My problem with a continuation is that we wouldn't have any pop culture references beyond 1999. His son wouldn't know (or at least understand) his father's references. And I don't think the writers would have a 2010's-era astronaut find their way into the UT.

That being said, I'd love to see something back on Earth and see how humanity has changed since John returned and proved humanity was not alone in the universe. Also, the Nebari storyline definitely needs to be played out.
 
The link isn't working now, but I thought it said that this hypothetical movie was about John and Aeryn's son growing up on Earth and not knowing about aliens?
 
I am a big fan of Farscape, but I almost do not want them to make any more stories about John and Aeryn and their family. The way it ended in Peacekeeper Wars was just perfect, in a happily-ever-after sort of way.
 
Didn't we already get a Farscape sequel?

Mitchell and Vala are absolutely nothing like John and Aeryn. They have absolutely NOTHING in common, apart from actors playing them.

So the answer to your question is a definite no.

Initial response - YES! Then..... Hold on.....

Peacekeeper Wars really did tie things up nicely so is this really needed? The comics I found Ok, but not as great as I hoped.
 
io9 posted a follow-up on the story with a quote from Tor about the film's supposed plot. Warning, there's a major spoiler for the end of the comic series written by Keith R.A. Decandido and I really wished io9 included a warning because I haven't read the last eight issues yet (considering the trade paperbacks got canned).

If this is true, it's very exciting news although I'm not entirely keen on the supposed synopsis.

I'm so glad somebody got it and didn't take me that seriously. :techman:

I've just always found it amusing that both actors popped up in SG-1 so soon.
