Farrah Fawcett has died

She was working so hard to beat it.
Godspeed to her, and peace to her family and friends. :(

Another icon of my youth passes. Sad. What a fine lady she always seemed to be. And that poster...was everywhere. The iconic picture of the 70s. Sympathies to Ryan and the rest of her family.

ed.- What a day-Farrah left to become a real angel and I guess she wanted a sweet song to go with her since MJ left soon after. And another icon is gone.

VERY sad!!

Man, I know I am not alone, but I had such the hots for her when that poster came out.

I remember her first movie (at least I *think* it was) role as "Holly" in Logan's Run.

Goodbye Farah. Your smile -- immortalized in that poster -- will be missed!

The poster was before my time, but she always came off as a very loving person and not the typical Hollywood type.

I was six when she was on Charlie's Angels, but remember well hoopla surrounding her at the time.

Damn. I suddenly feel older. Like a part of me has died.

Saw this one coming, unfortunately... still very sad though. :(

RIP Farrah Fawcett.

There's a new Angel in heaven...RIP, Farrah. :(
I was about to say the same thing. "An Angel returns to Heaven".

I had the poster, including the pre-photoshop retouched nude version. She fueled more than one teenage fantasy of mine. I always thought she was hot, but never thought all that much of her acting, with one or two exceptions late in her career. Even then, I kinda thought she was a ditz, and didn't particularly hold her in high regard.

And yet hearing of her passing has touched me surprisingly deep. Has brought me to tears, more than once so far. Clearly, her influence on my life is greater than I ever imagined. Somehow, she was far more than the sum of her parts. Beyond who she was, she was a symbol of an era. Which, I suppose, is what really differentiates a mere celebrity from an Icon.

As much as it surprises me to say so: She will be deeply missed.

I think you hit the nail on the head as to why this will impact some of us more than others. For a lot of teen boys in the 70's -- and I was one -- she had an impact.

I also always thought she was a kind of a ditz, but she was indeed a true icon of the 70's. Maybe even THE single most popular sex-symbol of the 70's.

So sad. She was fighting so hard and didn't want this cancer to be the end for her.

Yeah, I had the poster too. Hell, I even had the poster on a giant silk pillow when I was about 11 or 12 years old. A pillow that mysteriously disappeared a short time after I got it. That era is the way I will always remember her. Back in the day when she was married to the Six Million Dollar Man and the hottest girl in Hollywood.

RIP Farrah.
