"Far Beyond the Stars" Line-by-Line!

Greetings!

We've recently concluded our http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=136523"The Tholian Web Line-by-Line" thread over in the TOS forum!

After each completed thread, I'm randomly picking someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was Alienesse! And Alienesse has chosen "Far Beyond the Stars" as our next line-by-line adventure!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

As always, at the conclusion of this thread, I will pick someone at random from among all the participants to choose the next episode we do.

[Sisko's Office]

KIRA: The Defiant searched the area for almost six hours. We couldn't find any sign of survivors.

 

[Ziz]

Sisko: The Cortez was a fine ship.

YES! First line after thread start!

 

[LeadHead]

Kira: You knew Captain Swafford a long time.

 

[Vanyel]

Sisko: I introduced him to his wife.

 

[Alienesse]

KIRA: Patrolling the Cardassian borders is getting more and more dangerous. You never know when you're going to run into a squadron of Jem'Hadar fighters.

 

[Admiral Shran]

SISKO: I guess we popped the champagne cork too soon, huh? Everyone thought the war was over when we retook the station and pushed the Dominion back into Cardassian space.

 

[Alienesse]

KIRA: I never believed that and neither did you.

 

[Admiral Shran]

SISKO: A lot of good that did the 400 people on the Cortez.

 

[Alienesse]

(Door opens.)
KIRA: Ah, Mister Sisko, how do you like our station so far?

 

[Admiral Shran]

JOSEPH: Well, it certainly is... big.

(Kira leaves.)

I heard about Quentin Swofford. I'm sorry.

 

[Alienesse]

SISKO: Look, Dad, I know I haven't been very good company the last few days.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JOSEPH: I didn't come here to be entertained. I came to see you and Jake.

 

[Alienesse]

SISKO: Well, you certainly picked an interesting time to take your first trip away from Earth.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JOSEPH: Well, I figured it was now or never. Besides, I've been worried about you. The last couple of times we've talked it seemed like you were carrying the weight of the entire Alpha Quadrant on your shoulders.

 

[Alienesse]

SISKO: Sometimes it certainly feels that way. Dad -

 

[Admiral Shran]

JOSEPH: Just say it, son.

 

[Alienesse]

SISKO: I don't know how much more I can take. I don't know how many more friends I can lose. Every time I achieve a real victory, something like this happens and everything seems to turn to ashes.

 

[Admiral Shran]

JOSEPH: So what do you want to do?

 

[Alienesse]

SISKO: Maybe it's time for me to step down, let someone else make the tough calls.
