Although TOS is still my #1 fvorite Star Trek series; ENT is firmly #2 by a good margin. What did I like:
1) It showed us an era that had largely been untouched by other Star Trek series and films.
2) The cast of the show had the best on screen chemistry since the original Star Trek series (imo).
3) It was the closet in tone and execution to TOS in that the characters WERE NOT portrayed as perfect, well adjusted humans. They made mistakes, and often even with well meaning intentions often made what would be considered bad, or at best questionable decisions. They strived to be better but in the end were still human beings; and this I felt was missiing from the majority of modern 24th century era Star Trek.
Was it perfct; and did I always agree with the production decisions and execution? Nope. But truth be told, I could say the same thing regarding TOS.
It (like the majority of other modern Star Trek series) really hit its stride during seasons 3 and 4; and its a shame it didn't at least get a 5th season (imo). And to be honest, I thought TNG REALLY started going downhill fast in Seasons 6 and 7, did like DS9 through Season 7; but if there was any justice or real honest 'quality control'; VOY would have been axed after The 37's, which is the last episode of that show I bothered to watch.
