I am not fond of the notion that if Trek is popular or anticipated it is no longer Trek.

star Trek is not a sacrament for the most worthy. It is entertainment. It is somewhat sophisticated entertainment at times, but entertainment none the less. And that is what matters..

Exactly.

The other thing that those same people should consider is that they have this notion that Star Trek is all about messages and ideas about our future. I would think this would be a grand opportunity to spread those "ideas," instead of just preaching to the choir.

Once it becomes cool, becomes appealing to bigger audiences, or looks like it might be good or epic.... then it is no longer Star Trek.

I knew and know a great many teenage girls who were and are into Star Trek.

Some of them are quite attractive.

They're simply not the ones filling out the polls. Polls/reviews etc... mean little.

They have better things to do: texting friends, buying shoes, and talking about how sexy Trip is.

Trip is totally not sexy.
